  • Maybe there's room for a girl version of android. Now since 'andro' is tied to guys, what would be the name of the girl version, gynodroid. Somehow, that sounds very wrong.

  • Very true Natan, thanks for your comment! Android certainly need to focus more on the experience and less on the technology if it wants to become a truly mainstream OS. And that goes both for how the OS is designed and how it is marketed.

  • How come so many girls like and adore Wall-e? It's not the robot image that's not working for girls (and many man). It's that 'engineering is awesome and if you don't understand how TCP/IP protocol works you are not intended to use smartphone anyays' attitude and lack of empathy that turns people off. Well done presentation Alja. Congratulations on featuring.

  • Agreed, the name doesn't really make Android easier to sell to women, and some of the ads are even emphasizing the droid nature of the OS. Not a turn on for girls; we do like pretty things! :)
