Blacksmith
   The blacksmith worked
   with iron and steel

   He had to be an
   apprentice for many
   years.

   He bent metal into many
   different shapes.
Silversmith

The silversmith melts and molds metal into
shapes for colonists to use.
The silversmith often made designs in the
metal.
He would usually own his own shop.
Tailor




The tailor made hats, dresses and shirts

The tailor needed to know how to sew and make
cool patterns
Chandler

The chandler was the
colonial candle maker.

There were two types of
chandlers, tallow
chandlers that used
animal fat and wax
chandlers.
Carpenter

    The carpenter made
    anything out of wood but
    rarely made designs.

    They built houses and
    roofs for people's homes.
Cooper
A cooper is a barrel
maker

The cooper's family
owned a business and
passed the business
down in his family

Barrel makers use cool
tools
Gunsmith
The gunsmith had similar
 skills to other smiths.
Colonists used guns for
         hunting.
Wig maker

The wig maker used
animal grease and hair
nets to make the wigs.

A famous wig hairstyle
was called a lovelock
which was a side ponytail
with a curl.
