2. This lesson is designed for 11th grade students at a West
Virginia high school ranging from 16 to 18 years old. There
are twenty two students in total which include fourteen
females and eight males. The majority of the learners are
middle-class Caucasian students from the Appalachian
area; however, there are two African-American students
and one Pakistani-American student. Despite the general
heterogeneous makeup of the classroom, the students
adhere to many different learning styles such as musical,
naturalistic, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. Previous
learning competencies of the students includes a basic and
minimal knowledge of mythology derived from popular
media such as movies, TV shows, and books.
3. Objectives
1)
Students will identify the components
of a myth through lecture, videos, a
Webquest and writing as well as
illustrating an original mythological
character or creature by the end of the
unit with 100% accuracy.
2)
Students will name and describe
prominent mythological gods and
goddesses from the Titans and
Olympians through lecture, videos, a
Webquest, and the completion of a
character study by the end of the unit
with 100% accuracy.
3)
Students will evaluate primary
sources from the Ancient World
through reading and discussion by the
end of the unit with 100% accuracy.
