3. Introduction Bachelor of Science in Nautical Science is a course pursued to take up a career in Merchant Navy. Nautical science focuses on the knowledge required to safely navigate and operate a ship. Learning through the course is based on studying Navigation and Seamanship. Navigation, which deals with the ploting the positions and courses of ships to track movement through water, and the underlying rules and standards required for efficient navigation. Seamanship, which deals with the operation of shipboard equipment and tools, damage control procedures, Safety measures etc..

Eligibility: Education : Passed Class12(Science) or Equivalent from a recognised University Compolsoury Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (Usually a minimum 60% score in each subject is required) Languages: Englishas a Primary Languageat class 10 or 12 ( Usually minimum 50% score in English is Required) Age Limit: Maximum 25 Years of Age Physical Fitness : No Colour Blindness, 6/6 Vision in each eye, Candidate must not have an Optical Number Passing the Fitness/Medical test at the time of admission is mandatory

6. Options after the course: On successful completion of the course, Cadets can join a shipping companies as Trainee Cadet Officers. Following 12 months sea experience they are directly promoted to the position of Second officer by passing required examinations. As the career progresses, candidates are promoted to Chief Officer and then go on to become Captains of the ship.
