2. In the 1830's, a German orthopedist,
Bernard Heine was invented the
chainsaw. During these years the tool
was called an osteotome and it was
primarily used to cut bones. It had a
chain that carried small cutting teeth.
It was operated by turning the handle
of a sprocket wheel which in turn
moved the chain around a guide blade.
3. In 1926, the predecessor to the
modern chainsaw was developed by
Andreas Stihl and he specifically made
an electro chain saw. In 1927, another
inventor who is Emil Lerp developed a
first ever tool to use gasoline or
petrol, as the main power source.
4. Before, since the tool were so heavy, it
required two persons to operate them.
In fact, the first saws were so heavy
that they had wheels similar to those
on a drag saw, which preceded the
chainsaw as the tool of choice to make
wood cutting easier.
5. In order to solved the problem of
bulkiness in particular, these new
inventors created a portable chain saw
tool for one man to make it more
easier for them to operate. This
achievement materialized in 1950.
6. Nowadays, chainsaws are easy to
operate because they are mostly
electric since there are two main types
of chainsaws which are the gasoline
powered chainsaw and the electric
chainsaw developed by these
inventors mentioned above. These
specialized versions of the chainsaw
are available to cut stone, rock,
concrete and brick.
7. This version of the tool is commonly
used in construction and building
restoration to remove large chunks of
any of these rock-hard substances,
without causing damage to the rest of
the structure. They are also used by
stone sculptors to remove large pieces
of rock as they prepare it for the more
precise carving that will follow.
8. Finally, fire fighters use these heavyduty specialized chainsaws to gain
access to fires that are hidden behind
the decorative rock-like materials that
are often used in commercial
buildings.
9. Chainsaws are available in many
different sizes, ranging from small
electric versions that are used by
property owners, farmers and
gardeners to much larger versions
which is the gasoline powered
chainsaws that are usually more
heavy-duty and used outdoors.
