In my experience, more game projects get off track from a lack of creative clarity than from any other cause. This is a set of exercises that I use on my customers' projects to help them clarify and maintain focus on their most critical creative elements.

Getting media coverage will get your game noticed. It starts a conversation with a community, provides design feedback, and provides free advertising. But getting your game on journalists’ radars amid a deluge of daily pitches can be like shouting over a pneumatic drill. How do you cut through the noise? Pocket Gamer’s Alysia Judge will be sharing her insights on how to approach journalists, what the media looks for in a news-worthy game, and how to construct a memorable pitch. She’ll also be lifting the lid (and risking ex-communication from her peers) on what metrics journalists use to rate a game’s success in reviews, and whether it’s worthwhile for developers to hire a PR agency.

Ever wonder why your beautifully charted plans often don’t see the light of day? Are you having a hard time convincing stakeholders to get on board with your strategy? Sometimes even the most carefully articulated strategy on the most bright and shiny spreadsheet needs a little help from some friends, and this session will teach you how to gain the support you need to get your strategy off the ground. After this session, attendees will better be able to: Carefully listen, come to agreement, and reposition strategy in order to meet stakeholders’ true goals. Turn “mistakes” into opportunities. See content strategy work through completion, rather than getting stopped in the approval phase.

It’s essential for marketers to understand how to connect with their audiences with stories. Good storytellers can recognize the most compelling stories. However, telling a story is not like writing copy for a brochure or creating a news release, the real stories are about the people your products serve. As a marketer, it’s important to understand where the real story lives and to be able to bring it to life.

JESS3’s shares our thoughts on the key elements and mechanisms of visual storytelling. At the very heart of it all: storytelling is no longer just for Hollywood. In the advertising and business world, it’s not just about a brand telling its history or its story. Gone are the days of branded marketing: storytelling is now about telling the definitive narrative about an issue or topic in a wholistic way -- the state of, the evolution of, the future of. And it is in this context that brands will most successfully communicate with their consumer. Originally presented at Oklahoma City’s Ad Club on 6/13/12.

Full presentation by Pretty Simple's co-founders Corentin Raux and Bastien Cazenave, on designing the virality and retention for the hit social game of investigation Criminal Case. Launched in November 2012, Criminal Case went from 0 to 9 million players in just 6 months, and reached #2 most played game on Facebook by May 2013. Only 2% of all players came from ads, which means a staggering 98% of players discovered and played Criminal Case organically. The popularity of Criminal Case rests in large part on the quality of the game itself, but though this presentation discusses our overall design choices briefly, how to design a good game is (way) beyond its scope. This presentation focuses on the key pillars of the success of Criminal Case: optimizing the first time user experience, designing virality and retention, and understanding their relationship. This presentation is supported by actual examples and numbers from Criminal Case.

The microservices honeymoon is over. When starting a new project or revamping a legacy monolith, teams started looking for alternatives to microservices. The Modular Monolith, or 'Modulith', is an architecture that reaps the benefits of (vertical) functional decoupling without the high costs associated with separate deployments. This talk will delve into the advantages and challenges of this progressive architecture, beginning with exploring the concept of a 'module', its internal structure, public API, and inter-module communication patterns. Supported by spring-modulith, the talk provides practical guidance on addressing the main challenges of a Modultith Architecture: finding and guarding module boundaries, data decoupling, and integration module-testing. You should not miss this talk if you are a software architect or tech lead seeking practical, scalable solutions. About the author With two decades of experience, Victor is a Java Champion working as a trainer for top companies in Europe. Five thousands developers in 120 companies attended his workshops, so he gets to debate every week the challenges that various projects struggle with. In return, Victor summarizes key points from these workshops in conference talks and online meetups for the European Software Crafters, the world’s largest developer community around architecture, refactoring, and testing. Discover how Victor can help you on victorrentea.ro : company training catalog, consultancy and YouTube playlists.

Explore how multimodal embeddings work with Milvus. We will see how you can explore a popular multimodal model - CLIP - on a popular dataset - CIFAR 10. You use CLIP to create the embeddings of the input data, Milvus to store the embeddings of the multimodal data (sometimes termed “multimodal embeddings”), and we will then explore the embeddings.
