Looking back atyour preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt from the progression from it to the final product?

Looking back andwatching our preliminary task I can see a huge amount of progression, from editing skills to camera and filming skills. I feel that doing the preliminary task was a great learning curve and helped us a lot with the final product. The standard of our work has improved significantly in areas such as planning and camera work. We did not do an awful lot of planning when it came to the preliminary task and we just jumped in at the deep end. This meant we did not have all the correct props and did not have a filming schedule. We learnt from this and for our final product we put it so much more planning and tried to include every detail that could be needed to create our final product. This included things such as prop lists, cast lists, auditions, filming schedule, target audience profiles and research. This was of great help to us as everyone knew where they were and what they were doing.

In our preliminarytask there were a few filming errors with concerns to framing our shots. We did not realise at the time the things in the frames that should not have been there, such as another tripod in the frame or a person. From this mistake we learnt to very carefully check each shot and what was framed in it before we began filming. We set up all our cameras and tripods and confirmed to each other that there were no unwanted items or people in the shot. This gave our overall product a much more professional look and improved the quality of our opening greatly.

Completing the preliminarytask allowed us to gain experience in the field of editing and the editing software. It allowed us to develop our techniques and get used to the features available. Since the process of creating the preliminary task and the horror remake, the groups editing techniques and skills improved greatly. From this good practice we were able to recreate typical horror editing techniques a lot more easily. For example the montage scene in our opening. (which can be seen at 1:32 seconds at http://www.youtube.com/user/TheJall10#p/u/3/7w1gqBw0-Bs ) Overall the editing of our final piece looks very professional I think, and I also think this is due to the practice we got from editing the preliminary task.
