The 2 young calves Illustrated and written by Rhaedel Pickett.
Once upon a time, there were some large mammals called African elephants.
They lived in a herd. One day there were 2 calves flapping their ears to cool down from the blistering hot sun.
All of them had very bad eye sight but they all could hear and smell very well.
One of the young calves reached up towards a small tree with it’s trunk to eat the branches of the dry tree.
Jacinta the first calf’s mum said, "Jacinta did you know that you have over a 40,000 muscles in your trunk.”“No”, Jacinta said.“Yeah right mum”, said Jacinta’s older brother, Jacob.
It started to get dark the herd of Elephants, came together and slept peacefully through half of the night.
There it was a human gazing at the elephants from a large truck full of dart guns.
The human walked closer..closer and closer until suddenly the elephants blew their trunks with fear and there was a whole stampede of elephants heading towards the other side of Africa.
“Mum, mum where are you” said Jacinta and Jacob. But no one answered.
Then a shadow appeared not any shadow but a human shadow and as soon as they new it their was a net around them.
Suddenly the truck stopped and the human appeared once again and the human heard a strange sound like zebra’s getting chased by lions but even more suspicious than that.
All of a sudden a whole pack of dust came clamming towards the truck like it was a, wave hitting a surf board and then a whole bunch of elephants came out of the dust and the 2 young elephants blew their trunks and a elderly elephant put its heavy old trunk down and lifted the net and Jacinta and Jacob were re-united with their family.
