What materials have been used to create
these drawings?
Drawing with chalk
Objectives:
To explore the techniques and steps used
when drawing with chalk.
To produce an A4 chalk drawing of fruit.
Task1:
Watch the tutorial video and make step by
step notes on the techniques used when
using chalk as a medium. (Feedback)
Task2:
Using the notes you made produce an A4
drawing of fruit using the materials provided.
Remember to add shadow, tone and
highlights.

Don’t forget to take step by step notes ! You will need these for your homework.
Task2:
Separate your page into 4
sections using the light
coloured pencil and a
ruler.
Draw a different fruit in
each section using the
techniques you have
explored with chalk.
Remember to add
shadow, tone and
highlights.
Homework:
Produce a step by step guide on how to create a
drawing of a fruit using chalk. You can create a
story board or bullet points.
Task3:
Complete drawings and
swap with the person
sitting next to you and
peer assess the work.

Homework:
Produce a drawing of your favourite fruit. Fill
and A4 page and add colour creating shadow
and tone. Write which fruit you have drawn
and why.
Task4:
Using chalk and black
sugar paper produce a
copy of one of the two
images provided. Fill an
A4 page and use the
targets set from the peer
assessment to show an
improvement in your
technique.
Homework:
Produce a portrait of a family member using
fruit that they like to represent them. Write
who they are and which fruit you have used
and why.
