New Credit Scoring Program With Genesis Commercial Capital
1. New Credit Scoring Program With Genesis Commercial Capital
With over a decade of credit underwriting experience, Genesis Commercial Capital (“Genesis”)
has created a proprietary scoring system. The new score card will be used specifically to
decision small-ticket transactions for small & medium size businesses (“SMB”) located
throughout the U.S. The SMB segment is distinguished by distinct buying habits and
behaviors. Genesis has captured and built a robust database regarding these unique attributes.
Many lenders have relied exclusively on consumer credit scoring systems, such as FICO, to
make credit decisions. While this information is certainly useful, Genesis also understands that
consumer attributes must be supplemented with other key credit and financial information to
consistently reach the right credit decision. In addition, the use of traditional reference
information (bank references, trade references, etc.) can also provide greater insight as to the
credit worthiness of a typical small business. By blending proprietary information with third
party credit information, Genesis believes it will have a strategic advantage in evaluating risk.
Another advantage of the new scoring system will be it’s integration with the company’s contact
management system (CMS). This integration will allow Genesis’ direct sales force to access real
time information on the status of their pipeline and offer unparalleled service to our small
business clients. In this era of technology, our clients and strategic partners expect access to
critical information in “real time”. The new scoring system and related integration will meet this
objective.
While there are many indicators an economic recovery is underway in the United States, it is also
apparent the credit markets continue to lag current demand levels. Most small business owners
report the availability of credit is still insufficient to support their strategic plans. Genesis
believes this creates a unique opportunity for specialty finance companies to fulfill a void left by
the departure of banks and other national lenders. Particularly for specialty finance companies
that have developed vertical niches or a deep knowledge base in specific industries, equipment
2. categories, or geographic territories. With this in mind, Genesis intends to expand it’s presence
within a key set of core industries, or industry verticals. This will also allow for the creation of
sales teams focused on the unique needs in these targeted industries and equipment categories.
Genesis believes now is the time to make a technology investment that will provide a significant
ROI as the company originates new equipment leases. Looking forward, Genesis is committed
to building a world class leasing platform and the new credit scoring system is one initiative to
fulfill this objective.
