Film Production   There are 5 stages in film production; Development – The script is written and drafted for blueprint Pre- production – preparation made for shots in which the cast are hired the location is selected and the sets are built Production – When the film is made Post production – Editing, sound, music and sound effects Sales & Distribution – Where film is put out in cinemas etc.
Film distribution The film distribution process;  Convince the exhibitor to rent/ book each film (marketing techniques are used to convince the exhibitor that profits will be made)  A written contract is secured stipulating gross tickets sales paid to a distributor The distributor must ensure enough film prints are made A full time line of advertising material is on each film to attract audiences  The distributor must organise subtitles
Screening There are 7 screening processes Test screening – informal viewing of the film in its final form Focus group – formal test screening of a film in which its hoped to be its final form, with very detailed documentation of audience responses  Critic screening – (Invitation only) Target audience judge if more editing needs to be done, the film may be unfinished and all feedback is recorded  Private screening – for investors, distributors and V.I.P Preview – For the public, involve local media and press and unconfident Sneak preview – before the formal release and for additional publicity  General release – after all the above the film goes in general release.
