Emily Manzo<br />Pd 1<br />November 22, 2010<br />Where I’m From Poem<br />I’m from new years on October 31<br />Where years were marked by light and dark<br />I’m from unity in separation<br />I’m from tribes ruled as nations <br />Kings watched over domains<br />I’m from fighting for my tribe<br />Not for my country<br />Spread throughout Europe<br />Growing quickly as time moved on<br />Salt and iron made a living<br />Gods spoke through kingships<br />I’m from clans being my family<br />Being named after the chief<br />I’m from believing in the cycle of life<br />Directness between this world and the next<br />I’m from nature being a large part of my religion<br />I’m from believing in reincarnation <br />I’m from warriors and craftsmen being high in standard<br />I’m from balanced society<br />Women held as men were<br />I’m from eating on the floor<br />I’m from believing in many gods<br />And progress through warfare<br />I’m from changing history<br />Each moment moving time forward<br />Every new achievement creating new life<br />I’m from conquering others<br />I’m from making lives change<br />I’m from moments<br />That made the world what it is today<br />
