2. Magazine Cover Using the bar code and price adds credibility to the magazine cover, giving it the look of a more realistic cover. Large headline story shows that our movie has caught the attention of the magazine and is interesting to it and its readers. By being the headline story, it shows it is obviously the feature of the months magazine. ‘ The Love Issue’ outlines other stories that are featured in the magazine, which is a method used by all magazines to make sure the readers understand what is being included in the magazine. Using the theme colour of the movie, it shows again that it is the magazines feature article, an idea often adopted by magazines such as Empire. Having a large picture of the stars of the movie in their characters roles and costume gives and indication to what the movie will be about, making it attractive for the market audience. This is often used by magazines to bring in potential readers who have an interest in the movie itself, its genre or the actors. The use of a large magazine title headline it makes usual readers find the magazine easily, and allows the customers to know which genre of magazine it is. The tagline beneath gives further information as to the genre.

4. By dressing the girl in a hooded jacket it shows that she is trying to hide from everything that is going on, as well as showing a masculine edge that has been introduced since the body swop. This represents her not wanting to dress in a ‘smart-girly’ outfit, and going against convention. Using costume in such a way to represent feelings and what is going on in the movie is often used in the industry; for example, in ‘Freaky Friday’, after they swop bodies they dress completely opposite to one another to show their differences. By dressing the boy in quite smart clothes, it again shows the differences between the characters and that they are showing their differences through what they wear. This theme intensifies as the movie goes on, with the girl wearing ‘slutty’ clothes, such as short skirts and high heels, and the boy wearing smarter clothes, such as shirts and ties. This shows their difference even more. By using a deserted corridor for this scene, it shows that the characters are trying to keep to themselves and keep away from anyone who might discover something is wrong. This technique is often used in movies to show loneliness, but we have developed it so as to make the scene show their anguish at the change also. The general setting being a college meant that we had to find suitable filming locations around our college and have few options for variation. This makes sure the audience know where the film is set and that there are going to be college-aged issues discussed in the film. Using a two person shot in this frame shows both of the characters reactions. This allows the audience to see their horror at the situation as well as seeing both of their body language – further showing their differences. The shot is often used to show such interactions, and we have used it for similar reasons. The characters body language shows that the girl is clearly in charge of the situation. Usually in such situations, it is two boys or the boy being stronger than the girl. We challenge this form as it is needed in the movie to show that the girl is the stronger masculine character after the swop. Trailer

5. By repeating the theme colours when showing the audience the release date, it reminds them of the theme of the movie, and hopefully makes them remember the movie even more. By doing this, it leaves underlying messages for the audience to remember the theme colours, and thus the movie when they see it advertised. By naming the companies that have been involved in the movie it shows to the audience who have been associated with the film, and thus may attract viewers who have enjoyed other movies produced by the companies. It also makes sure that the companies involved are being fairly represented and thanked for their input into the movie and its release. This is always used by movie trailers to make sure that the correct people are being represented for their input into the movie. By showing the release date in a large font it makes it obvious to the audience when to go to the cinema to go and watch the movie. This is often used by other films so as to draw in audiences and make sure they reach their projected numbers. Trailer Titles Repeating the title on screen makes sure that the audience remember the name of the movie if they have missed it elsewhere in the trailer. This again is often used by trailers to make sure that the audience are certain of the movies title.
