Resources for pre- and in-service education will be included in this session with recommended sequences for developing understandings of enhancing the spatial dimensions of any discipline.
12. Week 1 (online): Students filled out online survey, read Fun with GPS, (D. Cooke), online discussion. Week 2 (online): students viewed online videos about geospatial thinking; completed required reading; shared links to online readings/videos/podcasts related to geospatial tech; posted to online discussions; posted a photo of an historical, cultural, or environmental physical feature with an accompanying description. Week 3 (on-campus and various locations near campus): Day 1: Introduction to spatial cognition/spatial thinking; mental mapping; hands-on with Google Earth Day 2: Geocaching activity in local historical cemetery; community mapping; Google Earth mashups Day 3: Hands-on with GIS Day 4: Walking tour conducted by local historical society with handheld devices such as GPS units, digital cameras, and Flip video recorders; hands-on primary source integration Day 5: Hands-on with online GIS tools; wrapup Week 4 (online): Submission of 2-week unit plan that integrates Geospatial technology

July 7, 1779 - 4:00 a.m. – Fairfield Coast Guard spots 4 British ships off the coast Isaac Jarvis fires a warning shot from Black Rock Fort then a fog sets in over Fairfield William Wheeler and his father move their cattle to Toilsome Hill 10:00 a.m. – The fog lifts and the British ships are seen off McKenzie’s Point 3:00 p.m. – Tryon and his men come ashore, near South Pine Creek Road and their troops march east 4:00 p.m. – Tryon and his men near the spot called The Pines British troops march east on Fairfield Beach Road and then march up Beach Road 5:30 p.m. – British reinforcements arrive, led by General Garth and begin to march over Sasco Hill The Fairfield militia wait at Round Hill Some of the militia march to the Fairfield Green and fire upon the British The militia also destroy a bridge at Ash Creek 6:30 p.m. – The first houses are burned near the Fairfield Green. One of them is the home of Isaac Jennings That night, there was a thunderstorm that cracked and flashed
