2. In the past, men and women with difficulty seeing had to
rely on glasses and contact lenses to help clarify their
vision. Although they remain a perfectly viable
corrective option for many people, glasses and contact
lenses can sometimes be inconvenient and expensive
to maintain and replace. Strong prescriptions lead to
thick lenses and heavy frames for glasses users, and
contact lens upkeep is required daily to avoid the risk of
infection.
3. Laser vision correction offers an alternate solution. By
harnessing the power of lamellar keratoplasty and the
excimer laser, qualified ophthalmic surgeons are now
able to reshape the cornea through refractive surgery,
eliminating the need for strong-prescription glasses or
contact lenses. The procedure causes very little (if any)
discomfort and allows the patient a swift reentry into
everyday life, except with sharper, clearer vision.
