Mustafa Kemal Atatürk 1881 yılında Selanik’te doğdu.
İlkokulu ve ortaokulu Selanik’te okuduktan sonra 1905
yılında Harp Akademisi’nden mezun oldu. Mezun
olduktan sonra orduda çeşitli görevler aldı.
1914’te Birinci Dünya Savaşı başladığı zaman Çanakkale’ye
gitti ve orada görev yaptı. Çanakkale savaşında çok
başarılı ve ünlü olduğu için bütün dünya onun adını ilk
defa Çanakkale’de duydu.

6. Birinci Dünya Savaşı bittikten hemen sonra Mustafa Kemal
Türk Kurtuluş Savaşı’nı başlattı. Önce 23 Nisan 1920’de
ordudan istifa etti. İstifa ettikten sonra Türkiye Büyük Millet
Meclisi’ni açtı. O ve Türk halkı büyük bir mücadele
verdikten hemen sonra 29 Ekim 1923’te Türkiye’de
Cumhuriyeti ilan edildi. Mustafa Kemal Türkiye
Cumhuriyeti’nin ilk cumhurbaşkanı oldu.

7. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk hem asker, hem de siyasetçi olarak
çok başarılı bir kişiydi. Türkiye’de pek çok yenilikler yaptı.
Mesela cumhuriyeti başlattı, alfabeyi değiştirdi, kadınlara
seçme ve seçilme hakkı verdi, pek çok ekonomik, politik
ve sosyal yenilikler yaptı. Ayrıca dünyada barışın simgesi
oldu.
