  4. 4. What is a Spider monkey?? <ul><li>Spider Monkeys are mammals and New World primates. </li></ul><ul><li>They usually live about 22 years! </li></ul><ul><li>They grow to be about 13.25 pounds. </li></ul>QUIT

Physical Appearance of a Spider Monkey … <ul><li>Spider monkeys have a light to medium brown colored body. </li></ul><ul><li>They usually have black hands and feet. </li></ul><ul><li>Their tail is usually longer than their body! </li></ul><ul><li>Spider monkeys stand and walk on two feet using their tail to hold onto for support. </li></ul>QUIT

Habitat <ul><li>Spider monkeys live in the tropical Central and South America, and even far north in Mexico. </li></ul><ul><li>They live in evergreen rainforests, semi deciduous and mangrove forests. </li></ul><ul><li>If they have a limited habitat they will be flexible and move to other forests. </li></ul>Spider Monkeys live here  QUIT

Behavior of a Spider Monkey <ul><li>Spider monkeys live in a smaller group of monkeys with about 30 other individuals. </li></ul><ul><li>Normally they live in sub groups within the larger group of about 4 other primates. </li></ul><ul><li>Females are more dominate than males. </li></ul><ul><li>Spider monkeys are diurnal (active during the day) and they sleep in high trees at night. </li></ul>QUIT
