A survey of 813 registered voters in Hawaii was conducted between January 7-8, 2013. The survey found that 48% supported civil unions for same-sex couples being legal in Hawaii, while 42% opposed it. On the issue of same-sex marriage, 42% believed same-sex couples should have the legal right to marry, while 50% did not. Most respondents, at 59%, believed the issue of same-sex marriage in Hawaii should be decided directly by a vote of Hawaii residents.
