3. This job was to make a water barrier to keep an excess of water from killing the grass and washing the dirt and sand away alongside and near the roads. The water barrier is not intended to be there when the roads open. Therefore, there’s no trench, no rebar, no glue put down first, the mixture is not exactly the same as usual and finishing was minimal. In the past we’ve done similar jobs using a 15X15 cm rounded mold (225 cm 2 ) and a 14X12 cm mold (168 cm 2 ). In mid-2008, after listening to the needs of many clients, we began working on a modification which would accomplish the same objective while reducing material usage and also increase the number of applications our machines could be used for in Europe, given the typically smaller curbs. We began testing in September and by November we felt very confident we had gotten to the point of reducing material by half. We are happy to say the mold used for this job successfully laid an 82 cm 2 water barrier!
