See, you hear a lot from people saying same-sex marriage should be banned because it violates the sanctity of marriage. Really? Then we should probably be imprisoning the adulterers in our states because adultery really can violate the sanctity of marriage. Not much argument there. And divorce REALLY violates the sanctity of marriage! So….let’s just make divorce illegal; that would really protect our marriages, wouldn’t it? Isn’t this all just ridiculous? How can normal, intelligent people come up with this stuff? Why would we discriminate against people simply because we don’t like their sexual persuasions? How many people out there go around thinking or even visualizing about how their friends, neighbors, family, or even total strangers make love?

SHOULD WE OUTLAW SAME-SEX MARRIAGE?
In essence, that’s what people want to do when they are against same-sex marriage. What would
they have us do? Give the violators a ticket, make them pay a fine, or put them in jail? Because
when you ban something, there will always be those who will violate the ban, thereby becoming
criminal law-breakers. So maybe we need to re-think the situation.
Let’s put them in jail!
Our jails are way over-crowded. Do we really have room to jail all the gay people who do get
married in another state and then move to a state that does not allow same-sex marriage? No
way! Or how about here in California, when gay couples got married during the time it was
considered legal? These days, it’s illegal, so are they now evil law-breakers?
So what about fines? How much would the fine be? And, keep in mind, if we fine them, aren’t
they still married? Do we then just put them on a payment plan till they agree to divorce?
Because, of course, divorce IS legal, (especially in California, but that’s a blog for another day) so
that could work. Hm-mm…..

This stuff is NONE OF OUR BUSINESS! Unless you’re some kind of perverted peeping tom who
gets a kick out of watching other people DO IT, it should not matter one bit how someone else
makes love. They did not invite you to their bedroom for a viewing. They also did not invite you
into their lives so you could decide whether or not to treat them like any other person you might
meet on the street.

2. Gay people are just like anyone else. They eat, breathe, sleep, work, play and bleed just like every
human being on the planet. They are among our friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors. They
live and work in our communities. They pay taxes, buy goods, have homes and contribute to the
economy just like we do. It’s time for them to be accepted and welcomed to humankind without
unwarranted, discriminatory exclusion of their rights.
I am the mom of a beautiful young woman who also happens to be a lesbian. She was born and
raised in this country of many rights, privileges, and freedoms. She deserves all the rights any
American citizen has come to expect. Her grandfathers fought in World War II, her dad fought in
Viet Nam, her step-dad served four years in the Air Force, and her ancestors fought in all the wars
that helped create this nation and to provide the freedoms we sometimes take for granted.
And yet, certain people in this country want to tell her that it is wrong for her to get legally married
when she finds the person she loves and wants to spend her life with? Give me a break! Don’t
insult me or her with your negative, backwards-thinking and lame reasoning! My daughter is gay.
She is also a person. If she chooses to be married in a legal ceremony, that is her right as a human
being.
Same-sex marriage should not be up for questioning or voting; it
should just be.
You may not agree with me about same-sex marriage. But I know you will agree that I have the
right to express my opinion. Great thing is this….I can earn money for simply expressing my
