2. Digital Camera’s in the classroom
Since the early 1990’s digital cameras
have been working their way into the
classrooms. School yearbooks and
newspapers were quick to embrace this new
technology and programs like Illustrator,
Photoshop, PageMaker, and Quark paved the
way for school student publications to go
digital.
3. Digital Cameras
In other classrooms such as English and Social
studies the digital camera allows students to
take pictures and place them into PowerPoint
demonstrations, portfolios, personal narratives.
In CTE classrooms the digital Camera is used
into monitoring a construction project, used in
graphic arts as well making the job of club
historian a lot easier.
4. Digital Cameras
Digital cameras also allow the student to
become their own movie producer.
With YouTube and Smart Boards Students may
link video clips from school digital cameras or
educational items found from other sources to use.
This tool allows students to cut clips, arrange items
into sequence, add title captions etc. into
presentation. Students can use these tools to
complete projects, also use the social network to
promote their own school.
5. Notebooks:
not just paper anymore
The notebook places a major role in my school’s
classrooms. We have several carts loaded with a
classroom set of (32) notebooks.
These carts may be checked out by any teacher as
long as there is a detailed lesson plan attached to the
request.
These laptops allow students to work on a myriad of
projects from PowerPoint presentations, research
projects, Essay writing, and taking online classes/tutoring
such as Kahn Academy.
6. Notebook Computers
The notebook computer when used for
PowerPoint demonstrations allows
students to include maps, digital
photography, lists, and notes into one
interactive program.
From a teaching perspective within the
slideshow presentation for a class, there
are a variety of mediums present to
address a myriad of learning styles for
students.
7. Putting the two together
While covering Romeo and Juliet, an English
teacher used this same presentation style to
identify the characters using pictures from the
movies. In another class he presented a show to
tour the Globe theatre, then Shakespeare’s life,
then one on Elizabethan England.
This YouTube video was then used to tour the
theatre.

8. Putting the two together
A student set up a slide demonstrating his bull riding.
9. Supporting the effort
Having students use their own cell phone
cameras, their own personal digital cameras can
allow them to be as creative as they wish.
Proper instruction on the legal uses of these
cameras and setting parameters is important.
Then allowing the schools technology
department allow access to YouTube and blog
sites can help expand the educational uses for
these mediums.
