1. DESCRIPTION
Certain Accent (RB), i30 (GD/GDe), Elantra (MD), i40 (VF), Veloster (FS),
ix35 (LM/EL) and Santa Fe (CM) vehicles may experience peeling of the
steering wheel leatherette cover coating.
This bulletin provides the procedure to rectify the concern by replacing the
steering wheel body only. Previously, the complete wheel was only available.
For vehicles experiencing this condition, replace the steering wheel body
assembly following the Service Procedure below.

5. SERVICE PROCEDURE
NOTE: In reference to the replacement procedure, this bulletin provides the service
procedure for Santa Fe (CM) and Elantra (MD) only. For further information refer to the
applicable Shop Manual.
1) Confirm that the steering wheel leatherette
cover coating is peeling.
A: Peeling leatherette cover coating of
steering wheel
2) Only for vehicles that exhibit this condition
replace the steering wheel body assembly
with the new one according to the service
procedure below.
# SANTA FE (CM)
1. Remove the driver’s airbag module and the
steering wheel assembly (B) referring to the
applicable Shop Manual.
2. Remove the steering wheel under cover
mounting screws (C).

3. Disconnect the steering wheel remote
control switch connectors (D) and (E)
on both sides.
4. Separate the under cover assembly
from the steering wheel body.

5. Remove the steering wheel remote control
switches (H) by unfastening the mounting
screws (G).

The removed under cover (F) and the
steering wheel remote control switches (H)
must be re-used.
6. Install the removed under cover and
steering wheel remote control switches to the
new steering wheel body (I).
7. Install the steering wheel assembly (J)
and all other removed components in
the reverse order of removal.

1. Remove the airbag module and the
steering wheel assembly (A) referring to the
applicable Shop Manual.

2. Remove the under cover mounting
screws (B).
3. Remove the mounting screws (C).
4. Disconnect all the wiring connectors (D)
from the under cover, then remove the
under cover assembly.

5. Remove the remote control switches (F)
from the steering wheel body.
6. Unfasten the steering wheel remote control
switch clips (H, I) and separate the mounting
brackets (G) from the steering wheel body.
Remove the steering wheel remote control
switch assemblies.
CAUTION
Be careful not to damage the clips (H, I).
