    • Number of Rounds and Golfers Continues to Decline
    • 2007 ( 29.5 million golfers) vs. 2008 (28.6 million golfers) ….. a 3% Loss!
    • Over the last two years, and for the first time in US history, more courses closed than opened
    • Even with the increase in course closings, most US golf markets are still oversupplied with golf by at least 50%
    • The industry has historically struggled to retain golfers once they enter the game and to attract new players to take up the game
    • Across the country, golf has become a “pay to play” school sport, eliminating the opportunity (or desire) to participate for many students
    • Total rounds played declined by 1.8% , many of those rounds from the “core golfer” segment

N ex G en G olfer MISSION STATEMENT The mission of NexGen is to provide financial assistance to interscholastic golf programs, increase the number of juniors playing golf, and to increase the opportunities for junior golfers to improve their game.     • Introduce the game as a “life sport” where and when it makes the most sense…….. to kids, as part of the PE curriculum, during their middle and high school years
    • Improve the mentoring skills of those non PGA individuals who have the biggest direct impact on young golfers……… the high school golf coach.
    • Provide the funding necessary to support and enhance high school golf team programs

  • 10. N ex G en G olfer Finally, a GOOD reason to offer an incentive to golfers Unlike all the coupon books, discount cards, e-specials, tee time companies, and golf passes, the Nex Gen Boosters Card will:
    • Directly fund a long-term industry growth initiative
    • Provide the funding needed to make high school golf self sufficient and attract new kids to join
    • Introduce the game to children in a structured program, providing their school the equipment and educational curriculum needed to keep kids interested and participating

  • 13. N ex G en G olfer High School Golf Teams directly benefit from each Booster Card they sell. The Golf Team will retain 40% from the sale of each card to fund travel, meals, equipment, uniforms, and the coach’s expenses. The average school is projected to raise $3,000 annually in card sales Who Benefits? High School Golf Teams

The golf courses benefit directly by retaining 20% from each card they sell to offset their cost and help fund their own junior programs Indirectly , they benefit from increased incremental play and the additional 20% that will go to a school of their choice Golf Courses

The High School Golf Coach Through NexGen’s partnership with The Spirit of Golf Foundation, proceeds from each card sale will go to pay for the Spirit of Golf Certification program. Developed by well known and respected Golf Professional, Bill Madonna, SGF certification is a one of a kind program. Certified by the National Federation of High Schools, and endorsed by the PGA, the program teaches the golf coach the player developmental skills needed to make them a much better coach and mentor to high school golfers.

JUNIORS Again, through NexGen’s partnership with The Spirit of Golf Foundation, proceeds from card sales will go to provide local schools with the SGF comprehensive “In-School” golf physical education program. The SGF “In-School” program will provide educators with a curriculum consisting of 15 lesson plans, each offering not only “fun” content, but stretching and instructional videos as well. As a bonus, educators will have the assistance of a local PGA professional to work with the class.
  • 17. “ Tools for the Schools” N ex G en G olfer Pictured here with golf great, Vijay Singh, The Golf Mat, The Golf Radar, and a Hitting Net (much larger than the one shown here), are the cornerstone pieces of equipment the schools will purchase, with NexGen funding, to implement the SGF PE program. These tools will provide digital feedback for “digital age” students
