The Zimmer Twins is a Canadian children's website and broadcast animation project.
The project was created by producer Jason Krogh and artist Aaron Leighton and is
produced through Lost the Plot Productions Inc.
The producer Jason teamed up with Aaron Leighton, who developed the characters and set out the visual
                                           style of the project.
He stated:"I wanted the characters to have a balance, being completely normal kid in one sense but at the
same time, having an air of mystery about them on account of the psychic element."
Zimmer twins Edgar and Eva Zimmer are 12 years old. They appear normal,
but they have developed psychic power. Strange things began to happen
when the twins adopted a black cat.
Edgar Zimmer is:
The younger twin and Eva's brother. He is clumsy, out-of-date and
unintelligent. He loves food and is good friends with 13. He has a superhero
persona "Super Action Boy". He is originally voice by JamesTaylor.
Eva Zimmer is:
Edgar's older twin sister. Eva is intelligent, mature, and kind. She is annoyed by girls
in her class who think she is a witch. She is talented in karate and other martial arts.
She is originally voiced by Lacey Chabert.
13 Zimmer is:
the twin's cat, with lime green eyes (and a straight-line mouth). He can talk. He
dislikes baths and is very fond of fish. 13 is anthropomorphic as he can do many
things humans can, like playing the guitar or holding objects with his hands. On some
real occasions, he seems to be antagonistic towards Eva. He is originally voiced by
                         Canadian comedian/actor Seth Green.
The Zimmer Twins is a site devoted to kids and creative storytelling. It has invited
since 2005 children/students to create and share their own animated stories.
They can create their own cartoon movie endings to a story starter either solo/
collab-o write (work together on creating a collaborative movie)
Zimmer twins website allows kids to use their imagination and exercise
their storytelling powers. This gives students opportunity to add their
personality when making a movie which motivates them and help improve
their language skills at the same time.
How should zimmer Twins be used in classroom? (At the beginning)the
teacher should use Zimmer twins as a story starter, and students finish the
story however they would like using their imagination and creativity.
After students are familiar with the zimmer twins website, they
can start a story from scratch by choosing first of all one of the
                       4 animation clubs.
Kids tell their stories by choosing actions, characters, props and
backgrounds. They can also add their own dialog and on-screen text.
                   New clips are occasionally added.
Zimmer twins would make an excellent alternative to the traditional book. Students
could create a movie where the main character is being interviewed, the story is
being summarized, or retold to demonstrate understanding of character education,
                           or for vocabulary practice.
This is a very interesting new technology.
Unlike traditional books teachers can start a scenario and give students times to
finish the prompt. That way, each student will have his/her own ending to their
story. It can be connected to thinking of different endings toother stories. The way
making a movie can help students with sentence structure and English skills too
Zimmer twins can be used without registration, however students will not
be able to save their creations. This is the page to create an account in
zimmer twins website by entering the information demanded.
After creating an account in zimmer twins, this is the page to log in by
entering the nickname and the password. And after log in, this page is given
so as to log out or to enter to « my movies/ my favorites »
If students don’t have access to a school email adress, teachers can create a
classroom account that every student logs into and saves his/her videos on.
Students will need to include their first name or a class number in the title
of their videos to differentiate it from others in the class .
Teachers could also set up an account for each student using
their email account. They will have to check this email account
to provide students with their passwords.
Zimmer twins states that it is designed to encourage the participation of
children ranging in age between 8 and 17. If students are younger than 8,
teachers should send home a permission slip to be signed by parents.
In brief, zimmer twins is an effective tool to improve elementary school
students writing abilities. Try it, it (will) suit/s both teachers and students
needs. It boosts creativty and imagination of young students and allows
them to add their own touch and demonstrate their personalities in
different ways.
