Entry/ Card sort activity (Dominoes for timetables). The class have very poor numeracy skills and need as much practice as
Starter they can with the basic Mathematics skills. Students to do this in pairs.
Main Student Learning Activities Differentiation Activities to check progress
Task 1
The key words for the lesson will be written on piece of card The cards are to be placed under Students to show
and stuck under each of the students chairs. Students are to students chairs in a certain order understanding of the key

together. Then Q&A to see what key words mean.

Task 2
Using the wallet whiteboards (and interactive board to By type of question asked and by Mini whiteboards
demonstrate) get all students to X by 10, the students to try response. Then targeted support
and do different ones to show they understand. Then for individual students and
explain how to X by 100 and 1000. extension task for able.
Students to show RAG cards to check understanding.

Task 3
Students to complete activity which are correct or incorrect. Extension is to explain why, Via Q&A and students to
Then move onto the interactive board for students to support is assistance. come up to the interactive

Task 4
As a class talk about what a multiple is. Then get the Students to be in pairs and Students to show posters
students to demonstrate that they understand a multiple support given by AMP or any and AMP and any assistant
using whiteboards (e.g. show me a multiple of 10, 100 and assistant. Students to do harder so we can check
1000). Then get the class to do the postit note activity in questions (so multiples of 10, 100 understanding.
pairs. Students to stick postit notes (with prewritten or 1000).
multiples of 10, 100 and 100) onto the diagram on A3 paper.

Task 5
AMP to talk the class through multiplying numbers with Students to be very supported Wallet whiteboards and
decimals multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000 using the wallet during this activity. Planners on students marking their own
whiteboards. Once students are confident, the students desks with RAG cards so targeted work. RAG cards
should move onto the questions on the sheet. support is correctly given.

Ext Task
Students to do problem solving activity on the back of the
worksheet.

Plenary – Students to do the review sheet and then discuss AMP to read the LO’s to check all
as a class what they have learned today. can understand.
Homework N/A today
Resources Wallet Whiteboards and pens, worksheet, card sort activity, post-it notes, A3 paper with multiples on it.

Level of the class
7 students at N, 1 student at level 2 and 3 students at level 3. See data sheet attached.
Seating plan on working wall.
