1. Top 5 Asian American Comedians That Uses Stereotypes in Their Jokes
2. Overview Asian American stereotypes have been exposed by both Asian and non-Asian in the public, but we can see that a lot of Asian American has using the stereotypes to make the comedy much more interesting. I choose the topic because comedy become one of the way of Asian American to shows the society the misconception and degrading of stereotypes.
3. Criteria My criteria for the comedian are that they are Asian American and they should use a fair amount of Asian habit, language and stereotypes to enhance their comedy. Many of the comedians are very famous, but some of the comedian has very specific audience. The tool that I use to find the list of comedian includes Google and browsing through some of the comedianโs website. After compiling the list, I tried to go to official and unofficial review of the comedian to see what other people thought of the comedian.
4. Selection Process To determine the best comedian, it is very hard to do it because something that is funny to one people is not always funny for other people. By using stereotypes, we are also going to hit some part that deals with the concept of standpoint epistemology, where some people with certain experience going to find the joke very assuming and real. I narrow down the list by looking at: The awards that the comedian gets, the scope of their performance (whether they have their own show, etc), and my own personal opinion.
