4. Excalibre Inc- where we discover our inherent potential. Cell 98188 12102 John Foppe , child with a broken arm, was not let to be a victim of sympathies; his mother chose not to make his physical condition a problem. A broken arm is a resolvable problem. Missing arm is a condition. Couple of years later – John was selected by the US Junior Chamber of Commerce as one of the Top Ten Outstanding Young Americans in 1993. John and his parents had an option on how they handled his condition; they could react to or respond to it. Fortunately they elected the latter route – they explored possibilities of working with and around it. Hence they searched for solutions, not problems.

Cell 98188 12102 As a small child John had sensed his loss when he realized that he couldn’t play ball with others and could not climb trees as others did effortlessly . But once incident at Haiti changed his perspective. He saw extreme poverty and children starving, not only for food but for affection as well. A little guy, five years old, very friendly and open, ran up and threw his arms around John’s legs. John wanted to hug him, but couldn’t – that's the time he accepted their absence, and replaced them with what he had- conviction, courage, confidence and gratitude.

I shall give my gold in a princely sum, But what did I give today? I shall build a mansion in the sky, But what have I built today? It’s sweet in idle dreams to bask, But if not I, who shall do the task? Yes, this is the question, each soul must ask: What have I done today?

Editor's Notes
Ten minutes group activity **Born without arms, John Foppe has had to break down and re-engineer every aspect of day-to-day life. He learned that the inability to do something didn't rest on the lack of resources or vision. Instead, it has more to do with one's subconscious perception to meeting a challenge head on. In the field as part of his Master's Degree in social work, John saw this scenario play out repeatedly. To his surprise, he discovered that many people subconsciously substitute personal improvement with systems to support their perceived limitations. As a speaker, John also witnessed this resistant mindset operate in all sorts of companies. He repeatedly heard leaders complain about how difficult is to motivate their people. John has addressed this common challenge through years of research, clinical study and field testing, which ultimately led to the discovery of the primary cause of failed vision execution. In light of this important, personally-significant discovery, he has developed a variety of solutions to help individuals and leaders overcome their exasperation and translate their visions into outcomes. His compelling story and methods caught the attention of the legendary Zig Ziglar, who broke his long-standing rule of promoting from within and recruited and mentored John. In 1995, John launched a successful training business that has taken him to 15 different countries, pro-football organizations like the Miami Dolphins and to Fortune 500 clients such as Boeing, GE and State Farm. John's insights on how the biggest vision can be derailed by the smallest bit of resistance are now being used to orchestrate the missions of visionaries and change agents around the world
