- 6. * * Lets say you desire to learn a really really tough subject like * Deep Learning, or * Quantum Computer Programming etc… * Its natural for anyone to be Overwhelmed * Both Teachers and Students alike… * I have heard a lot of debate around the need for educational reform, shifting the focus to learning etc. * But even the top most Universities don‟t put too much effort into The Science of Learning itself… * We want to make both teaching and learning effective. And interesting. * We want to make students to learn to „do‟ not learn to „pass exams‟. i.e. Creativity * And believe it or not it‟s a Knowledge Era out there and its all about the mind and its capabilities… believe it or not the Industrial Era is over… * Trust me or not we all want to work with geniuses and create geniuses…
- 7. * * Terms * Notations * Concepts * Derive the Concepts * History * Innovations * Breakthrough‟s * Fcukups * And then only then get into „The Subject‟ itself * Cover The Future of the Subject * Practitioner‟s Path Beyond This… * Implementation of the Concepts * Tools of the Trade * Solutions built with them
- 8. * *Terms – Every Subject has specific terminology specific to its domain. If a student doesn‟t understand one term he will skip understanding the rest of the subject and never be able to catchup. Hence this is the first starting point of any teaching/learning effort. *Notation – Every subject has a language aka Notation which you need to learn to understand the experts who speak that subject and to converse… Its like learning a new language like Mandarin or Hangul *Concepts – Cover all the major concepts subjectively, in layman‟s language
- 9. * * History – Every subject has a History behind its evolution, which is needed to be known to truly understand the subject * Innovations – You have to then cover all the major innovations so far the subject had offered to the world * Breakthroughs – Explain the impact of the subject, things that were previously never could have been possible without this subject * Fcukups – and a list of major Fcukups people made by using or misusing the subject * And then and only then its time to get into The Subject itself * Practitioners need to know the Implementation, Tools and Existing Solutions to turn the subject into practice.
- 10. * * Teaching and Learning is very very difficult * I work in a job which requires me to learn new things every day from Quantum Science to Machine Learning breakthroughs you name it… * And trust me when I say Learning is very very difficult in the current world * Believe me or not, if you try the sequence mentioned on slide #7 to teach and to learn * You will produce Geniuses, who will end up making a real difference to the world. * Combined with Ref: Educational Reform – Stop Certifying for a Purpose, it would make teaching and learning interesting, real world results oriented, make students self reliant practitioners, trigger their imagination, creativity and support their purpose.
