2. Lesson 1: Familiarization with Excel and
Entering Data
• My aim here is to first get you familiar with the layout of the program,
how you can enter data, and basic essentials such as saving, copying
and pasting, and closing the program.
3. Lesson 2: Font Changes & Using
Autofiller
• In this section we will go over the various options to alter the font of
the contents of a cell, such as highlighting & word wrapping, and
using Excel’s built in Autofiller feature to help you save time when
entering data.
4. Lesson 3: Basic Formulas
• Here we go over the Formula tab in Excel – we go over the basic
functions used, such as SUM, COUNT, & OR, as well as more advanced
ones such as VLOOKUP, IF, & XOR.
5. Lesson 4: Linking Data between different
Worksheets & Trendlines/Sparklines
• Here we go over how
to reference cells
between different
worksheets(using a
value in a cell from
one worksheet in
another worksheet)
and go over Trendlines
and sparklines.
6. Lesson 5: Locking/Hiding Cells and
Protecting Workbooks with Passwords
• In this section we will go over protecting the structure, contents of a
workbook, as well as encrypting it. Additionally, we will go over
locking specific cells to prevent alteration of their values, as well as
hiding the formula behind a cell value and the row and columns of
that column.
7. Lesson 6: Pivot Tables & Pivot Charts
• In this section we go over the basic fundamentals of creating pivot
tables and pivot charts – we’ll go over the four quadrants (filter,
column, row, values), as well as modifying the type of chart used.
8. Lesson 7: Creating Basic Macros
• In this section we will go over Macros and how to create them. I will
show you how to include the “DEVELOPER” tab in Excel, as well as
how to access the Visual Basic section of MS Excel, and go over some
key points regarding security issues when working with Macros.
9. Lesson 8: Review
• Finally, we will review all of what I have taught you, as well as go over
any other sections that you would like more assistance or clarification
again on.
