3. The NMA Diabetes Outreach and Education
Program sets out to improve awareness of
diabetes and ultimately increase the quality
of medical outcomes. The program intends to
coordinate a wide range of community
outreach and education programs,
implement a minimum of six community
coalitions led by NMA affiliates, and educate
NMA physicians on program goals. In
particular, the NMA Diabetes Outreach and
Education Program attempts to address the
uneven distribution of diabetes among
African Americans in the United States.
