Sorin Mihai Popa is a graduate of the Finance Accounting Faculty from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and holds International Management Diploma issued by the Institute of Business Management from the Ecole Supérieure de Gestion - Toulouse, France. Becoming employee of Societe Generale - Bucharest branch in 1993, Sorin Mihai Popa successively occupied the position of General Controller and then Executive Director of the branch in 1996-1999. Thereafter he was appointed Director of the Network of BRD - Groupe Societe Generale, until 2003 when it took over the position of Deputy General Manager and was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of BRD. On 18 April 2007, Sorin Mihai Popa was re-elected Director of BRD for a term of 4 years.
