What characterizes water ?

4. ● Water is made of liquid + particles (dust,
microbes) + salts (Clue : salt marsh)
● 3 states : liquid, gas, ice (density anomaly)
● necessary for life
● not to drink or not to eat (pure water)
● transparent, colorless and tasteless (pure
water)
● electrically insulator

5. Experiment 1 : temperature
changes
Materials : water, paraffine, temperature probes,
computer.
Measurements : comparison of temperature
changes in the two liquids while heating in the
same way.

6. Experiment 2 : volume
changes
Materials : water, paraffine, graduated test tube.
Measurements : comparison of volume in the two
states : liquid vs solid.

7. Experiment 3 : skin of water
Question : Can living creatures walk on water ?
Video : a lizard walking on water.
Materials : water, paper, razor blades, detergent,
small coins.
Measurements : put objects on water then add
detergent.
