Safelite Group (Safelite) is an industrial goods manufacturing company. The company provides
multi-faceted vehicle glass and claims management services. The company primarily operates in
the US. Safelite is a subsidiary of Belron.
The company primarily operates through the following four divisions: retail auto glass, insurance
claims management, wholesale vehicle glass and windshield manufacturing.
Safelite's retail auto glass division is engaged in replacing glasses for vehicle damage. In addition
to replacement services, the retail auto glass division delivers windshield repair services. The
company's retail auto glass division primarily operates through its subsidiaries, Safelite AutoGlass
and Safelite Fulfillment. Safelite AutoGlass operates in 50 states in the US. It also operates Giant
Glass brand (vehicle glass brand) in the Boston area.
The company manages insurance claims management division through Safelite Solutions, a company
that provides claims management solutions for the fleet and insurance companies, and Alliance
Claims Solutions, a company that enables small to mid-sized insurance companies to deliver quality
claim care. Alliance Claims Solutions's call center provides the insurance industry with various claims
solutions, including Managed Glass Programs, First Notice of Loss, Statements, Desk Reviews and
Claims Resolution.
Safelite operates the wholesale vehicle glass division primarily through its subsidiary, Service
AutoGlass, a national provider of wholesale vehicle glass products as well as installation and repair
materials and tools. Service AutoGlass provides services to vehicle glass companies through a
network of 91 warehouses located in the US.
The company manages windshield manufacturing division through its subsidiary, Safelite Glass
Corp, a domestic producer of original equipment equivalent windshields. Safelite Glass Corp has a
manufacturing and distribution facility in Enfield, North Carolina. The manufacturing facility serves
Safelite AutoGlass and the customers of Safelite's wholesale operations. Safelite Glass Corp also
operates distribution centers in Braselton, Georgia and Ontario, California.

Business Description
HISTORY
Safelite Group (Safelite) was established in 1947 as Safelite AutoGlass.
In 1997, Safelite acquired Vistar.Vistar was founded in 1996, by the merger of Windshields America,
a wholly owned subsidiary of Belron (the US), and Globe Glass and Mirror Company.
Safelite filed for bankruptcy court protection and was acquired by a syndicate of banks, in 2000.
In 2007, Belron S.A, a vehicle glass repair and replacement company, acquired Safelite Group, and
renamed it as Belron US.In the same year, the company converted 90 former Belron Inc.point-of-sale
systems to the Safelite point-of-sale system.
Belron US converted to the Safelite AutoGlass brand name in Arizona, California, Nevada and
Washington in 2008.The conversion affected 106 locations and 920 associates in those four states.
The affected store brands included Elite Auto Glass (Arizona, California and Nevada), Glaspro
(Arizona and Washington), Maverick Glass (Arizona) and Windshield Pros (California).
Also in 2008, Safelite AutoGlass, a subsidiary of Belron US, entered into a three-year agreement
with the NASCAR Performance Network to become the exclusive provider of auto glass replacement
and repair.
The company acquired Cindy Rowe Auto Glass, a company with the prominent vehicle glass repair
and replacement brand in the central Pennsylvania area, in 2009.
In 2010, the company changed its name from Belron US to Safelite Group.
Safelite AutoGlass opened stores at 560 Nevada Street; 16422 Avalon Boulevard, on the northeast
corner of Avalon and Gardena; 7501 Suzi Lane in Westminster; 15375 Anacapa Road, Victorville
at the southwest corner of Park and Anacapa; 83 East 11400 South Street in Sandy, Utah; 3610-B
Stagg Drive, Beaumont, Texas; and 4110 Decker Drive in Baytown, Texas, in 2011.
Safelite AutoGlass relocated its Springdale store from 3112 North Thompson to 3546 West Sunset
in 2011. Also in the same year, the company relocated its Reno, Nevada, store to a facility at 2825
Kietzke Lane, Suites 6-9, along Auto Row.
Also in 2011, the company through Safelite AutoGlass expanded its presence in Tampa, for in-shop
service for vehicle glass repair or replacement. In the same year, Safelite AutoGlass opened a shop
in Chula Vista to serve area customers with same-day, in-shop service.
Further that year, the company relocated its Durham store from 4421 Chapel Hill Boulevard to 3633
Chapel Hill Boulevard; and relocated its Fairless Hills store from 134 Lincoln Highway to 131 Lincoln

Highway Fairless Hills. Also in the same year, the company opened new shops in Camarillo and
Santa Maria. Later that year, the company entered into a fleet contract with the Ford.
In 2012, Safelite AutoGlass opened a store in Southwest Highway, Oak Lawn, Illinois. In the same
year, the company replaced its 20,000 wood pallets with steel pallets.Also, in 2012, Safelite AutoGlass
opened a new SuperCenter in Queens, New York City.
Later in 2012, Safelite AutoGlass opened a store located at 4823 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga,
Tennessee. In the same year, Safelite AutoGlass relocated its Wichita warehouse to 8805 East 34th
Street North, Kansas. Also, in 2012, the company opened a store located at 19285 David Memorial
Drive, Suite 200, Shenandoah, Texas. Further, in 2012, the company moved its Baton Rouge
warehouse to 7155 Exchequer Baton Rouge Louisiana. In the same month, Safelite AutoGlass
opened a new retail shop and combined warehouse in Van Nuys.
In 2012, Safelite AutoGlass began a windshield recycling program. In the same year, the company
relocated its Burlington store from 290 Lila Lane to 1831 Bouslog Road. Also, in 2012, Safelite
AutoGlass relocated its Salinas location from 111a Abbott Street to nearby 1276 Abbott Street.
Further, in 2012, the company opened a store located at 11182 South Towne Square, Green Park,
St. Louis, Missouri.
The company opened a store located at 27970 Southwest Freeway, Rosenberg, Texasin in 2012.
In the same year, Safelite AutoGlass relocated its Allentown store from 1447 Lehigh Street to 2518
Macarthur Road, Whitehall, Pennsylvania. Later, in 2012, Safelite AutoGlass relocated its Lafayette
Shop 207 Harold Gauthe Road, Scott, Louisiana.Further, in 2012, the company moved its Charleston
location to 7651 Palmetto Commerce Parkway, North Charleston. Later, in 2012, relocating its
Anchorage warehouse to 1650 West Northern Lights Boulevard, Suite 3, Alaska.
In 2012, the company opened a store in Humble, Texas; and a green warehouse in Arizona. In the
same year, Safelite AutoGlass opened stores at 975 Van Horn Road, Suite 4, Fairbanks, Arkansas;
8910 Waukegan Road, Morton Grove, Illinois; and at 72-01 Cypress Hills Street, Glendale, New
York. In the same year, Safelite AutoGlass opened stores at 3880 Jackson Road, Suite B, Ann
Arbor, Michigan; and at 1069 Broadway, Saugus, Massachusetts. Also, in 2012, the company
relocated its St. Louis warehouse from 10855 Metro Court in Maryland Heights to 2055 Westport
Center Drive in St. Louis. Further, in 2012, the company acquired four regional vehicle glass repair
and replacement companies, Klein-Dickert Co. Inc, Southern Glass & Plastics, Giant Glass and
Windshield World.
In 2013, Safelite AutoGlass opened stores located at 11784 Holly Auto Center Lane, Waldorf,
Maryland; and at 95 Louise Street, in San Rafael, California. Later in that year, the company relocated
its Bristol store from 1023 Commonwealth Avenue to 1815 Volunteer Parkway, Bristol, Tennessee.
The company acquired all the vehicle glass division assets of Maryland-based Royal Glass Company
(not including Royal’s tire-related business in Capitol Heights) in 2013. In the same year, Safelite
acquired Detroit-based Michigan Mobile Glass & Trim, not including its glazing-related business.

Also in 2013, the company entered into an agreement to acquire the vehicle glass repair and
replacement assets of Guardian Auto Glass, a joint venture of Guardian Industries Corp. and LRST.
In January 2014, Safelite Glass Corp. entered into a license agreement with AGC Automotive
Americas, a company engaged in glass technologies, to manufacture, distribute and sell replacement
windshields under the AP Technoglass brand.
Safelite AutoGlass opened a new shop at 57 Norman Street, West Springfield, Massachusetts in
April 2014.In the same month, the company opened a new store located at 123 West NASA Parkway
in Webster, Tex., near the space center.
In May 2014, the company opened a new shop located at 125 Burnside Avenue in East Hartford,
Connecticut.
Safelite AutoGlass, a part of the company, entered into a new partnership with Procter & Gamble

  • 5. HISTORY Safelite Group (Safelite) was established in 1947 as Safelite AutoGlass. In 1997, Safelite acquired Vistar.Vistar was founded in 1996, by the merger of Windshields America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Belron (the US), and Globe Glass and Mirror Company. Safelite filed for bankruptcy court protection and was acquired by a syndicate of banks, in 2000. In 2007, Belron S.A, a vehicle glass repair and replacement company, acquired Safelite Group, and renamed it as Belron US.In the same year, the company converted 90 former Belron Inc.point-of-sale systems to the Safelite point-of-sale system. Belron US converted to the Safelite AutoGlass brand name in Arizona, California, Nevada and Washington in 2008.The conversion affected 106 locations and 920 associates in those four states. The affected store brands included Elite Auto Glass (Arizona, California and Nevada), Glaspro (Arizona and Washington), Maverick Glass (Arizona) and Windshield Pros (California).
