2. The genre of this video is rock this is a popular genre amongst the teen and adult population. It also contains standard instruments such as guitars and drums, which are common to other genres not just rock. Our video contains camera techniques that are typically used in rock videos. These include meat shots and instrument shots alongside full band shots. We used these shots along with various other camera shots such as tracking shots and pans.
3. Our video challenges the conventions of a music video by changing the ways in which the narrative is used. In most of the conventional music videos of the rock genre mix the performance with the narrative. However in our video we didn’t have all that much of a narrative as our video was more performance based than a normal video. However songs like “Give You Hell” by the all American rejects have two different videos, one is performance and the other is a narrative. As each of the names entail one has more narrative and one has more performance.
4. Another convention that we matched for our music video was that we lip-synced the lyrics. In other videos they lip sync the lyrics as opposed to actually singing the words. Certain videos such as the actual video for “Thnks Fr ThMmrs” and “Dead on Arrival” include scenes that show the band either after performances or in-between performances. We tried to recreate this in our video by showing the band in some scenes where they aren’t performing and might just be relaxing.
