Anne Lamott is an American writer born in San Francisco. She graduated from Drew School and her father Kenneth Lamott was also a writer. Her first published novel Hard Laughter focused on her father's death. She has a son named Sam born in 1989 and a grandson named Jax. Lamott has been described as someone who captures very well the style of narrative nonfiction. One of her books is about a 17-year old girl named Rosie Ferguson who is intelligent, athletic and beautiful and ready to enjoy her summer before senior year. The book also discusses her family's move. Lamott wrote that to be a good writer you have to write a lot and care about understanding life to pass knowledge on to others.
