Motorola's Mid-Range Moto G Android Smartphone Launching in India
1. Motorola was acquired by Google last year and now the company is gearing up to launch a
new device in Indian market after acquisition, the Mid-range Moto G Android smartphone.
2. Moto G borrows the design from the Moto X with its edge-to-edge display and the curved
back. The handset is although thick at 11.6 mm but its weight of 143 g makes it comfortable
to use.
3. The Moto G sports a 4.5 inch display carrying a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels protected by
Corning Gorilla Glass 3 against scratches and minor knocks.
4. Under the hood Moto G gets a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor
supplemented by a 1 GB of RAM. Motorola claims the combination is able to deliver even
better performance than the Samsung Galaxy S4.
5. The device will be making its way to the customers in a non expandable 8 GB and a 16 GB
storage based variants.
6. Moto G has standard connectivity options including 3G, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi and GPS. It
will also be launched in dual-SIM variant in few countries.
7. For imagery the Moto G gets a 5 megapixel autofocus camera at the back along
complemented with an LED flash for illumination and in the front there is a 1.3 megapixel
8. Moto G provides users with the 19 customization options including changeable back covers
(called Motorola Shells) available in 7 colors. Along with this Grip Shells and Flip Shells will
also be made available in a range of colors.
9. Moto G runs on the Android 4.3 JellyBean with very minimal yet useful customizations done
by Motorola. The device has also been promised an update to latest Android 4.4 KitKat by
January 2014.
10. Moto G will carry a price tag of $179 or Rs 12,000 for 8 GB model and $199 or Rs 13,000 for 16
GB model approximately. The device is targeted at emerging countries and will be made
available in markets including India by January 2014.
