Semantic
Semantic is being concerned with the conventions of the genre that communicate to
the audience such as characters, locations, props, music and other signifiers.
Syntactic
Syntactic is more to do with the actual narrative/ the structure of the film. It is the
order of events in the film. The main event is usually shown in the trailer, this is to
entice the audience into going to watch the film when it is actually released.
Although the main event is usually in the trailer, the ending is not for obvious
reasons – the audience would already know how the film ends before even
watching it.

4. Syntactic
Syntactic is the order in which events occur throughout the film. The trailer for this
film shows the main events in the film as this gets the audience interested in the
film (entices). Although this is shown the actual ending isn’t shown in the trailer.
This makes the audience want to go and see the film to see what happens.
