What’s New?
2
WWW.PICNET.ORG
Ontario Public Library Week is October 19-25, 2014 this year and we’re celebrating with “Family Storytime with the Mayor”. Join us on Tuesday, October 21 at the Central Library at 9:45 am.
Afterwards, there will be coffee and discussion with the Mayor. Coffee will be generously supplied by Starbucks Pickering.
What are the issues that matter to Pickering residents?
The Library will be providing a venue for compelling formal and informal presentations, panel discussions and debates and community discussions on topics that matter to local residents. Topics can cover social, political or cultural ideas; they can be serious or light-hearted, timely or timeless.
Express your views, ignite debate, create conversations, and get involved in this opportunity for community idea sharing and discovery. We’re looking for inspiring speakers, presenters and topics.
If you or your organization would like to get involved in the Commons, visit www.picnet.org/thecommons and use the online form, leave us a message at thecommons@picnet.org, send a text to 905-706-1634 or visit us in late September to add your idea to the Commons Conversation Wall.

You are invited to join us for an evening of technology, maker spaces, food and beer. Yes you read correctly. Beer.
On Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 6:30-8:30 pm the Pickering Public Library will be hosting just such an event.
Join your neighbours and local businesses to try out some of the Library’s new technologies and learn about our planned events for 2014/2015. Taste beer, try food samples from some of the local businesses and get to know your neighbours.
We welcome this opportunity to get to know you better and allow you to get to know us better.
This will be an evening to exercise all the senses. The Library will feature demonstrations with the latest technologies - you can try them out too. The Five Paddles Brewery will be on hand with taste samples and information about their beers, how to store and where to find them and a group of local food vendors invite you to taste their wares. See page 14 for all the details.
*This is a licenced event and therefore for ages 19 and over. Identification may be required.

What's On @ Pickering Public Library September to December 2014

  • 2. What’s New? 2 WWW.PICNET.ORG Ontario Public Library Week is October 19-25, 2014 this year and we’re celebrating with “Family Storytime with the Mayor”.
