2. Common Theme on
LinkedIn
• I belong to several LinkedIn groups for
accountants, lawyers and other consultants
• Common theme is a desire to be seen as
something beyond current services
• This change won’t come from clients
• You have to take the first step
3. How Do You Want to
Be Seen?
• What service to you WANT to provide?
• Decide, and then start writing about it.
• Here’s a 5-step process to get you started
4. Write At Least a
Dozen Tips
• Write a dozen really valuable tips for YOUR clients
• Don’t stick with the tried and true
• What have you learned about your clients’ businesses?
• What could they improve? How would that help them?
• These questions should give you some ideas to write about
• Write one piece a day until you have at least a dozen
• Don’t do anything with them yet — just keep them in a folder on
your computer
5. Send Them the Best
One
• Choose the best piece and send to your clients
• Follow up, asking if they want to receive these tips weekly
• Use the acceptances to start building a mailing list
6. Most Won’t Reply!
• Most won’t reply, but that’s OK
• After a couple of days, call them on the phone
• Repeat what you said in your email
• If they answer in person, begin the conversation that
helps them see you as a business resource beyond your
present relationship with them
7. Automation Is Your
Friend!
• Set messages up as autoresponder series
• Put subscription box on your website
• This exposes your messages to visitors to the site as well
as your current clients
• Start being seen as the expert
8. Continue Adding to the
Series
• Write a new message each week and add to series
• End each with a request for them to send you their
questions
• This is fodder for future posts
• So you won’t run out of topics to write about
9. Don’t Wait for Them to
Ask
• There are enhancements to this process
• If you haven’t done anything yet, this is a good start
• Don’t wait for your clients to ask for more services
• The first move is up to you
