Here are 10 underrated books that I would like to suggest everyone read. These books are selected across genres, fiction and non-fiction included. I hope you have a good time reading them!
3. SPOOKY
The introductory poem alone is so
spooky that even before you start the
book the vibe is already set. It is an
unsettling book that keeps you
guessing till the last page. It is slow
in the beginning but keeps you
engrossed and becomes quite a page-
turner once you are totally into it.

6. UNCONVENTIONAL
A rare find, this book met me by chance and
I was gripped. It is written in a refreshing
new style and the idea of a kingmaker
making a woman his prodigy is also novel.
The parallels that are drawn along the eras
and the verses quoted make it very rooted yet
relatable.

7. “Adi Shakti, Namo Namo
Sarab Shakti, Namo Namo
Pritham Bhagvati, Namo Namo
Kundalini Mata Shakti, Mata Shakti, Namo Namo
(I bow to (or call on) the primal power.
I bow to (or call on) the all encompassing power and energy.
I bow to (or call on) that through which God creates.
I bow to (or call on) the creative power of the Kundalini, the Divine Mother Power.)

9. UNORTHODOX
The portrayal of mythological beings as
an everyday human being is spectacular.
Seemingly trying to scientifically
explain all phenomena and yet keeping
the magical spellbound is an art that
Amish has mastered. Though the entire
trilogy is worth the read, it is ‘The secret
of the Naga’s that sets this trilogy apart
from other mythological works of Indian
authors.

12. SPINE CHILLING
It's only when the book ends that the
full meaning of the title sets in on you
and you can’t appreciate enough how
apt it sounds. It's creepy, scary,
intriguing, and very addictive. As you
keep flipping the pages your notions
about each character keeps changing,
one moment someone is a victim
another moment you feel he/she is the
killer. 12
13. “One of her favourite things is to look out at the passing
scenery as the train eats up the miles, and think and
plan and dream. She likes to pretend that she could be
going anywhere, be anyone. She's always been tempted
by the road not taken.

15. MOTIVATIONAL
This book is a story of a person who
enters IIM but has not been an over-
achiever all his life. How he handles
the pressure of being part of the cream
of the country and the crazy everyday
routine of an IIM graduate, the life
which is a dream for many, and
answers to: is all that glitters really
gold?

16. “
We see a star, and admire its glitter,
The twinkle catching our eye,
And all through our lives, we only see the twinkle, whenever we see the
star.
We know but fail to see, that all it takes to be a star,
Is an unending fire,
A fire that’s beneath the surface, the fire that made it the star it is.
And had we seen the star this way,
We might as well have woken up to the fact, that the only thing
separating us,
From being the star, is the lack of fire within our hearts.

18. THOUGHT-
PROVOKING
The title imbibes the entire essence of
this book in few words so perfectly,
love the way how she portrays the
impact of small things sacrificed every
day leading to a huge sacrifice of
personality, life, and will to live, and
seeing these nuanced sacrifices happen
every day with my mother, it resonated
with me very distinctly.
18
19. “
Initially we work for money. But soon money becomes
unimportant. It is the power. There’s nothing like power.
It’s like liquor. Once the intoxication of power catches
hold of an ambitious person, there’s no escape from it. It
is a vicious cycle like a whirlpool, it is difficult to come
out of it
19
21. CAPTIVATING
The story revolves around the making
of Nike and contains the founder's
favourite anecdotes. The lesson that
stayed with me was that the person
who has tried and tested the product
himself/herself and believes in it and is
passionate about the change it can
bring is the person who can truly
market the product to its success.
21
22. “
So that morning in 1962 I told myself: Let everyone else
call your idea crazy . . . just keep going. Don’t stop.
Don’t even think about stopping until you get there, and
don’t give much thought to where “there” is. Whatever
comes, just don’t stop.
22
24. PROACTIVE
This one book needs your time and
attention; it will consume you as you go
through it as it has so many lessons to
learn to become the best version of the
CEO or manager or team lead or
whatever it is you are aiming at. This
book might become your Bible. In the
end, Bob very accurately summarises the
key points and it is something unique.
24
25. “
Optimism. One of the most important qualities of a good
leader is optimism, a pragmatic enthusiasm for what can
be achieved. Even in the face of difficult choices and
less than ideal outcomes, an optimistic leader does not
yield to pessimism. Simply put, people are not motivated
or energized by pessimists.
25
27. TERRIFIC
This is the best love story ever. Yes, you
read that right! This book is divided into
3 parts and each part, namely: Becoming
Me, Becoming Us, Becoming More, each
part takes you into different aspects that
came together to make one person who
she is. The way it is told flowing from
one section to another, from one story to
another, it's flawless.
27
28. “
Barack intrigued me. He was not like anyone I’d dated
before, mainly because he seemed so secure. He was
openly affectionate. He told me I was beautiful. He
made me feel good. To me, he was sort of like a
unicorn—unusual to the point of seeming almost
unreal.
28
30. AWAKENING
It is a book that gives you reasons to be a
feminist and that there shouldn’t be any
other way to live, it’s that basic. Why have
women lacked traditionally, what societal
trends suppress their growth, what gains can
the world get from equality of genders and
many more questions have been logically,
statistically, and satisfyingly explained. It is
a thought-provoking book that makes you
think about your way of approaching
everyday tasks. 30
31. “
When woman work outside the home and share
breadwinning duties, couples are more likely to stay
together. In fact, the risk of divorce reduces by about
half when a wife earns half the income and a husband
does half the housework.

32. If you only read the
books that everyone else
is reading, you can only think
what everyone else is thinking.
