About I teach digital media studies (arts and theory). I have a strong interest in digital democracy and the role of digital media in civil society. My research includes an emphasis on Asia/Pacific philosophy, society and culture. I "steward" courses in digital media and media arts, including Media Arts, Digital Art and Design & Information Design. I teach graduate courses for the Masters of Learning and Emerging Technologies.
My theoretical research interests include the dynamics of power within the context of taboo and transgression (with a study of ancient Polynesian concepts applied to emergent media lifeworlds). I have published on communities and identities in virtual worlds.
