And how can non-profits, brands and artists use transmedia methodology to tell great stories and help build and excite new audiences across multiple platforms? Nicole will walk us through her methodology for creating Transmedia storyworlds and will showcase some of her latest work from "Occupy Love's transmedia app "Found Love", to "Hipsterbait" (winner of "Merging Media 2013" for best cross media project).

We are constantly being told by marketing specialists that publishing a newsletter to one's clients, sponsors or prospects is a key part of a well-conceived marketing plan in the social media age -- provided it is well designed, and contains compelling content. However, for most, this is usually easier said than done. Email marketing platforms, such as Constant Contact, Mad Mimi, and others, have made it easier to produce well-designed, single-page newsletters, but the problem of generating good content remained. Few of us have the writing skills or resources to consistently produce good, original content that would interest our clients and prospects. In this talk, Jonathan Stoppi will share two great options for nonprofits to produce good looking newsletters with original content, with minimum outlay of time, effort, or cost: • automated newsletters based on blog posts, and • curated newsletters, using a mixture of original content and linked content from related sites. He will show examples from newsletters that he has set up and maintains for both nonprofits and commercial clients, as well as two of his own newsletters.

A CRM (customer relation management) system is a way to keep track of your interactions with supporters and keep track of how they are interacting with you. The benefit that these systems provide to non-profits is to track donors, segment communications based on support level and track when a supporter changes their level of engagement so you can reach. With all these benefits you should be good to go; however, these systems range in costs and functionality. This session helps introduce you to these systems and what questions you need to start asking to choose the system that fits the best with your organization.

How Non-Profits can Assess and Evaluate Privacy Risks Everyone is worried about privacy but what exactly should we actually be worried about? What are some of the daily ‘risks’ and the broader considerations for non-profits, today? In this presentation, Christopher will identify some practices that non-profits can adopt to both secure their clients’ personal information and to make better decisions about what information to collect or not. He’ll identify how non-profits can develop transparent and effective policies concerning the collection of personal information, basic and intermediate levels of securing some of that data (and what not to do with it, once you’ve collected it!), as well as some common ‘threats’ that such organizations might experience. These threats will identify different parties that could intentionally or accidently compromise non-profits’ computers, some of tactics third-parties might adopt to compromise data stores, and ways to potentially manage such threats.
