2. Total Recipe Weights and Amounts:
400 grams Diamond Clear Melt and Pour Soap
590 grams Hemp Oil Melt and Pour Soap
29 grams Bamboo Hemp Fragrance Oil
16 Whole Star Anise Seed
Step 1: Before starting, clean and sanitize your work area along with all utensils and materials you
will be using. Also, it is suggested that you wear an apron, gloves, and a hair net when preparing this
recipe. In addition, fill one black bullet bottle with rubbing alcohol and place a sprayer on top.
Rubbing alcohol is used to remove air bubbles from the soap, and helps the layers of the soap adhere
to each other.
Step 2: First, we will prepare our whole star anise. You will need 16 whole star anise for this recipe.
It is best to have these out and ready ahead of time because the clear layer will setup quickly.
Step 3: Next, we melt a portion of our clear layer. Weigh out 200 grams of your Diamond Clear
Melt and Pour Soap. Melt this in the microwave in 30 second bursts, until it is in a liquid state. We
chose to leave this layer unscented since the fragrance oil has a yellow tint to it.
Step 4: Once the clear soap is melted, pour it into the mold. Then, place one star anise in the center
of each square of the mold. You will need to place them quickly as the soap will setup fast. Then,
spray this layer with rubbing alcohol to remove any air bubbles. Allow this layer to setup completely
before moving on.
Step 5: You will notice the clear portion you poured doesn’t quite cover the entire star. We poured
only half of the layer to hold the star anise in place. Preparing the soap this way prevents the star
anise from floating up or going crooked. So, next, we will melt another 200 grams of the clear melt
and pour soap to cover the rest of the star.
Step 6: Now, weigh out 200 grams of the Diamond Clear Melt, melt soap in microwave 30 seconds
at a time until soap is fully melted. Then, spray your previous layer with rubbing alcohol. Finally,
pour the melted clear soap base directly on top of the previous clear layer and spray it once again
with rubbing alcohol to release any air bubbles.
3. Step 7: Next, once your clear soap layer has setup, we will prepare our white layer. First, weigh out
and melt 590 grams of Natures Garden’s Hemp Oil Melt and Pour Soap. Then, add 29 grams of
Bamboo Hemp Fragrance Oil to the melted soap base and stir to incorporate the fragrance oil.
Step 8: Finally, spray the soap in the mold with rubbing alcohol, then pour the melted soap slowly
right on top of the clear layer. Then, spray the white layer with rubbing alcohol to release any air
bubbles.
Step 9: When the soap has completely hardened, remove it from the mold. You will notice the soap
has indented lines to show you where to cut. Use the soap cutter to slice along these lines creating 16
small soap squares, each with a star in the center.
Your layered soap in now ready to use! We hope that you enjoyed this star anise melt and pour soap
recipe!
