A digipack is a modern CD packaging format that allows for more information about an artist. It has three main functions: to attract audiences and sell albums through eye-catching graphics and personal messages; to create a trademark and protect the artist's image for recognition; and to allow artists to be creative with designs, colors, and graphics to engage target audiences.
The group discussed ideas for their music video, including filming outdoors, using multiple tracks, and contrasting stereotypes. They considered three songs - by Corrine Bailey Rae, Ellie Goulding, and Katrina and the Waves - and chose Corrine Bailey Rae's "Put Your Records On" after pitching their ideas to their teacher. The video will feature floral clothing, fields, and a guitar or records to connect to the song while differing from the original. Carol Vernallis observed that music video editing follows different conventions than film or television editing. She found that edits in music videos are more frequent and regular, may break continuity rules, and often connect to the rhythmic beat of the song. Additionally, music video camerawork may move with the music and use a variety of shots, with extremes and certain frames given more importance. Examples cited include Beyoncé's "Countdown" video using jump cuts and effects synchronized to the song's beat, and Katy Perry's "Firework" video adding special effects to draw attention to expressing her emotions.
There are 6 types of pictures: shape, color, texture, movement, value, and line. Shape refers to the outlines of objects or figures. Color is the light reflected by objects. Texture describes the surface quality of objects. Movement shows action or a sense of flow. Value is the lightness or darkness of tones. Line can be used to define shapes or suggest texture.
The music industry has faced challenges from piracy and illegal downloading, which has reduced music sales. As a result, the industry has had to find new ways to generate revenue. These include touring, which earns money from ticket sales, as well as 360 deals where artists branch out into films, TV, endorsements and more. Artists also make money through merchandise like fragrances and fashion lines sold through partnerships with retailers. These strategies have helped artists and record labels offset losses from changes in how music is consumed.
This document discusses the elements and principles of design including textures, color, motion, space, line, size, and value. These elements are the basic tools used by artists and designers to create works of art and visual compositions. The document discusses the group's process for choosing a song for their music video project. They brainstormed ideas and themes they wanted to incorporate. Initial ideas included filming outdoors in fields with colorful plants and having retro-style clothing. They considered three songs - "Put Your Records On" by Corinne Bailey Rae, "Your Song" by Ellie Goulding, and "Walking On Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves. Choosing between the songs was difficult. They created pitches for their video ideas and got feedback from peers and their teacher. Ultimately, they chose "Put Your Records On" because the teacher was enthusiastic about their concepts and locations. The document outlines their artist persona, audience,

The document discusses the results of a study on the effects of exercise on memory and thinking abilities in older adults. The study found that regular exercise can help reduce the decline in thinking abilities that often occurs with age. Older adults who exercised regularly performed better on cognitive tests and brain scans showed they had greater activity in important areas for memory and learning compared to less active peers.

1. HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE
COMBINATION OF YOUR
MAIN PRODUCT AND
ANCILLARY TEXTS?
By Isha Sesay (Group 16)
Visually there is a clear link between my main
product and my ancillary texts. For example,
through; Color, Similar fonts/text, Clothing,
Camera shots and photos.
2. WHAT ASPECTS OF THE VIDEO LINK WITH
THE ADVERTISEMENT AND DIGIPAK? COLOR
In my music video the color blue is a big theme that runs throughout the video. For example, the shots that were filmed at
Mile End features blue graffiti, and there are many shots of the sky. This was done to give the video a very pure atmosphere. Also
in terms of lighting we wanted it to be slightly bright so it could highlight the meaning of the video and song which is to feel good
about your self, confidence and living life, which is why we filmed outside. The color blue is considered beneficial to the mind
and body. It shows human metabolism and produces a calming effect. The color blue is strongly associated with tranquility and
calmness. In heraldry, blue is used to symbolise purity and sincerity.
This is one of the main reasons why I decided to use this color as well as black and white in my ancillary product. In
comparison, I believe my advertisement is effective as the color scheme makes the photo used and text come alive. The white
glow around the digipak makes it more clear to see as they are the same color. By doing this it doesn't clash or blend in with the
advert itself. The color also gives the impression that he is in the sky, almost flying and feeling free (due to the picture used). I
believe this connotes freedom and beauty as it really reflects on the lyrics of the song "when you finally find what's beautiful, so
wonderful..”
3. WHAT ASPECTS OF THE VIDEO LINK WITH THE
ADVERTISEMENT AND DIGIPAK? SIMILAR FONTS
As our artist hales from East London which is the center for street art/graffiti within the city I thought it
was only right to use a font that emulated this lifestyle. As said before one of the basetracks are filmed at Mile
End skate park which is known for its graffiti. As a group we made sure that this was shown so our target
audience could have an idea about our artists personality and interests. The font used for his name, track list
ect is called "Base 02”.
It has a very gritty and urban look which mirrors the nature of the music video as it shows skate
boarding something that is common among young people that may live in urban areas. However, a
juxtaposition of the fonts used is shown as "Wonderful" (the title of the album) is more classy and sophisticated
to show that the artist is a "diamond in the rough". I thought this font would show how "Solo" wants his
audience to know that he may have grown up in an urban area but he's reaching for the 'Wonderful' lifestyle
so he can be successful.
4. WHAT ASPECTS OF THE VIDEO LINK WITH THE ADVERTISEMENT
AND DIGIPAK? CLOTHING (MISE-EN-SCENE)
The clothing in the video is very similar to the clothing in the ancillary products so
the target audience can be familiar with his style and dress sense. In the video 'Solo'
is seen wearing a hat, printed shirt, basically very similar clothing in the ancillary
products. As a group we decided that it was best not to change his look in the
ancillary as we wanted there to be a link.

5. WHAT ASPECTS OF THE VIDEO LINK WITH THE ADVERTISEMENT
AND DIGIPAK? CAMERA SHOTS
AND PHOTOS
In the music video there are various shots especially the ones that show 'Solo'. For example Wide
shots, mid shots, media close ups, close ups, extreme close up, cut it (shows some other part of the
subject in detail, e.g hands). These shots and camera angels are very similar to the pictures used in
my ancillary work. A close up of 'Solo' was used for the outside panel of my digipak (album cover) to
introduce the new artist to his target audience as well as 'the music industry' (show it). I also used a
mid shot photo of him for my inside panel. Here his arms are folded to show that he's in control (show
photo). Another mid shot photo is used in my advertisement to show his full body to the audience.
(Show photo). These shots show his clothing more clearly which may inspire his audience of young
people to have a similar style of dressing which additionally creates a movement for the artist. For
example, many of Nicki Minaj's fans have emulated her stlye by having pink hair (show nicki minaj
and her fans). I used these shots overall because I want his target audience to feel as though they
know him, so they can build a relationship with him through his music, style ect.
6. HOW SUCCESSFUL DO YOU THINK YOUR MAIN PRODUCT AND
ANCILLARY TEXTS ARE?
I think my main product and ancillary texts are very successful as the affiliation
between the two is very clear. They follow the codes and conventions that make it
obvious to a viewing audience that they are in connection with the same artist. I
believe this was effective as I followed what most artist videos and ancillary
products tend to look like, which made mine very believable. I followed examples
such as Beyonce – I..Am Sasha Fierce which uses the clear theme of black and
white for the music videos, album cover and singles.
7. DO YOU THINK YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE WOULD BE
ATTRACTED TO THEM? IF NOT, WHY?
I think my target audience would be attracted to them as they are
mainly young people that will be able to appeal to the artist himself as
he is young, the style of the artist, and also the colors used to reflect on
him and the nature of the song.
