I think that this would make for a really interesting ceiling. The colors add a feeling of fun and whimsy, and it could be lit in a very interesting way. The first is from a festival in France and the second is from a runway show several years back.
This is an art exhibit from earlier this year. I love the use of space. Everything is so small and precise while the room is large, stark, and white; I think that’s a great juxtaposition.
This field seems so vast and endless; I like that the picture gives the sense that there is no start or end to these flowers. I also really love this deep purple.
I chose this one because of the mood it brings. This picture seems so far removed from busy city life and so peaceful and stoic.
This is an underwater cave/bar. I like how reminiscent the greens and blues are of actually being underwater. I think that it would make for a really cool set.
The lines are what drew me to this picture, both the lines of the lights and the lines of the archway. I think that lighting can really transform a set, and if this could be visually represented on stage (like an archway of lights) it would be beautiful.
This is my favorite library, due in large part to the structure and the repeating rectangles. If given an opportunity to design a library set I would immediately call upon this.
I like that this picture makes it seem like we are somewhere very far down looking up at the world. I think that the circle is a perfect shape for this idea because it’s neverending.
This is one of my favorite pieces of art. I love the bold colors and the shapes.
This is a lotus temple. I chose it mostly because of the rounded-triangle shapes that it uses. I think that this could be a very interesting design element in a set.
The archway with the bell would be an interesting entrance. It seems very old-timey --- because of both the bell and the stone.
I liked this almost exclusively because of the door. The bring around the doorway is something that I haven’t ever seen before and I think it would add an interesting element to a free-standing door in a set.
This room seems very regal and ornate to me. I also like that it uses almost exclusively warm colors and is very symetrical.
I like the lines in this shot. I think that gardens often need something extra to keep them from seeming like ordinary gardens and this grid accomplishes this task nicely.
I liked a lot of elements in this picture. The first is how much the rust colored cage pops against the green. I also liked the vases and columns a lot. Finally the lines are sharp and they offer a sense of restriction. I feel like that cage thing would be in Bernarda Alba’s garden.
I was drawn to this curch because of the shapes. I like the domes and circles as well as the cleen lines.
This is La Madeline. I like the long hallway of chairs and the way the light comes through the archways. It’s very reminiscent of France, and I think that the archways look good in a set.
This stain glass window was in a church I visited over Thanksgiving break. I like that everything else is black except the window. I think that it would be very dramatic in a set and I think that the colors are ornate and beautiful.
The architecture of this church is beautiful. I like the high ceilings and arched lines a lot.
Finally I like this apartment complex because it looks silly and like a toy house. The colors are weird colors for an apartment. They look very whimsical, and would look even more absurd on a tiny stage.
