How To Increase Video Conversion Rates Case Study Results
I setup a split test 6 months ago to try and increase video conversion rates.
I wanted to see if I could improve the conversion rate of af f iliate clicks and email sign ups with my videos on
the blog.
The f ull details of the test can be f ound in my previous post.
A Quick Recap
Just to ref resh your memory though basically I installed the SimpleVideoPro plugin which has some pretty cool
conversion f eatures.
You can add things to your video like a clickable logo, clickable banner ads, clickable splash images, trigger
point reveals, social media buttons and completely custom html.
You can do all of this over the top of any YouTube video you want ^^
I chose to use custom HTML which pops up right at the end of the video with a list of relevant resources
(af f iliate links) and an optin box.

I setup a content experiment in Google Analytics testing Simple Video Pro against the def ault YouTube embed
code.
The experiment was setup across the f irst 4 parts of the tiered link building tutorial series.
Turns out I buggered it up and only have the data f or 1 video though.
I wanted to see if I could increase conversion of email subscribers and af f iliate clicks.
The Results Are In!
The experiment actually ended a while ago but I’ve not had time to get round to writing this post

3. Was It Worth It?
Overall the new video player delivered a 37% increase to email subscriptions and a 153% increase in the
number of af f iliate clicks.
Not bad considering the HTML splash doesn’t pop up until the end of the video.
I have also used email subscription popups to try and improve subscriber conversion which added a 44%
increase in email conversion.
So when you compare the results of both of those – I would say the video popup perf orms much better due to
the extra af f iliate click conversion it of f ers.

Hold Up A Minute
When I set this experiment up I was just testing the water with a quick and simple split test.
While the custom html popup does perf orm very well there are a f ew things that I want to try to improve it
f urther such as-
Creating a better design f or the custom HTML
Using the ‘reveal’ f unction to make a banner pop under the video af ter x seconds
4. Overlaying product banners within the video itself
Taking users to a specif ic URL automatically when the video ends
As you can see there is certainly a lot more to explore with the plugin to improve conversion even more.
SimpleVideoPro has certainly helped me to increase engagement and boost conversion with my visitors.
Now I just need to leverage it f urther.
