    2. What’s it All About?
      • The ‘Good APIs’ project aims to provide JISC and
      • the sector with information and advice on the factors
      • that encourage use of machine interfaces, based on
      • existing practice .
    3. When, Where, Who?
      • October 2008 – March 2009
      • All around the UK HE/FE sector
      • UKOLN: me (a non-technical person) with support from Brian Kelly
      • … with hopefully (lots of) input from the HE/FE community
    4. Using APIs
      • We’d like to:
      • Define a set of criteria to use when selecting third party machine interfaces for use
      • Identify instances of effective use of third party machine interfaces and document e.g. use of:
        • commercial sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Google
        • non-commercial sites such as SherpaRoMEO
      • Draw general lessons
    5. Making APIs available
      • We’d like to:
      • Define good practice when making services available using APIs
      • Produce a report reviewing current practice in UK HE – chatting to developers, conducting a survey etc.
      • Provide recommendations that would help improve the situation
    6. What Will You Get Out Of It?
      • Guidelines and recommendations
      • Briefing papers and articles
      • A workshop
      • A easy way to pass on suggestions to JISC for future plans
    7. Questions?
