Taking Mobility to the Next Level - Adele Beachley news release
1. Interview with: Adele Beachley,
Vice President - APAC, SOTI Inc
“The conversation around enterprise
mobility must extend past BYOD and
CYOD once and for all. With expertise in
mission critical mobility management,
SOTI is well-versed in delivering unified
endpoint management (UEM) which
extends the capabilities of traditional
mobile device management (MDM) to
include connected peripherals and IoT
integration. The ability to securely
manage all endpoints with actionable
data insights is critical to harnessing the
true capabilities of a robust mobile
strategy,” says Adele Beachley, Vice
President - APAC, SOTI Inc.
SOTI Inc is a sponsor company at the
marcus evans Australian CIO
Summit 2016, taking place in the Gold
Coast, Australia, 25 - 27 July.
How have organisational needs
grown beyond MDM? What does this
mean for Chief Information Officers
(CIOs)?
CIOs must look beyond emails and
devices because the world has moved
on. They have the ability to strategically
influence how their business operates.
The explosive adoption of mobility for
productivity gains, competitive
differentiation, workforce enablement,
and business transformation has
resulted in an evolutionary shift from
mobile MDM – focused on device
management, to enterprise mobility
management (EMM) – focused on email,
calendaring, and applications, to UEM
which extends management capabilities
to virtually any connected endpoint for
IoT integration.
CIOs should assess the needs of the
entire organisation to understand the
types of connected endpoints to
manage, the operating systems to
support, the types of data to share and
collect, and the insights and competitive
advantages that can be gained.
We live in a connected world where
more and different devices are
becoming connected, applications are
being integrated and data is being
captured and shared. At SOTI, we will
be leveraging our history and mobility
experience to help organisations
manage devices, data, content,
applications, and users from a UEM
perspective.
Which areas of EMM can be done
better?
We have reached a point in time where
the average person using IT, whether a
knowledge worker or a blue collar
worker doing deliveries, has certain
expectations as to what any corporate
solution is meant to deliver for them.
CIOs must focus on securing corporate
and customer data, but the user
experience must also be compelling.
The user experience must be at the
centre of what they do.
What future should CIOs prepare
for? How?
In every industry, mobility is moving
towards UEM. Hospitals can have
cupboards where inventory manage-
ment is done automatically. Patients are
being monitored, x-rayed and diagnosed
remotely through mobility management.
Mobility is allowing patients to monitor
their own health, which is reducing
readmission rates and healthcare costs.
In the retail ecosystem, multiple
technologies are being deployed, such
as mobile points of sale with purpose
built apps for payments. When you walk
into a shopping mall, there are large
displays to interact with and find where
shops are located. Interactive and
digital signage is an emerging area.
Some large sporting tournaments are
planning to use wristband technology
and mobility to monitor attendance.
People no longer want to sit at home
and wait for their deliveries, but be able
to nominate a point of delivery that is
most convenient for them.
Managing all these endpoints remotely,
pushing out apps and updates
seamlessly with minimal downtime,
collecting and integrating data and
implementing a mobility strategy across
all connected devices, prioritising user
experience - this is UEM. It has its base
in mobility, and is the future that SOTI
is moving toward.
The ability
to securely
manage all
endpoints with
actionable
data insights
is critical to
harnessing
the true
capabilities
of a robust
mobile
strategy
