What Jesus said about Anxiety, Worry and Fear Adapted from the series, “Jesus Said” by Michael Wiley http://www.sermoncentral.com/sermons/what-jesus-said-about-anxiety-worry-and-fear-michael-wiley-sermon-on-allegory-132936.asp
25. "If you decide for
God, living a life of God-worship, it
follows that you don't fuss about what's
on the table at mealtimes or whether the
clothes in your closet are in fashion.
There is far more to your life than the
food you put in your stomach, more to
your outer appearance than the clothes
you hang on your body.
26. Look at the birds, free and
unfettered, not tied down to a job
description, careless in the care of God.
And you count far more to him than
birds. “Has anyone by fussing in
front of the mirror ever gotten taller by
so much as an inch? All this time
and money wasted on fashion--do you
think it makes that much difference?
Instead of looking at the fashions, walk
out into the fields and look at the
wildflowers. They never primp or shop,
27. but have you ever seen color and
design quite like it? The ten best-
dressed men and women in the country
look shabby alongside them. “If God
gives such attention to the appearance
of wildflowers--most of which are never
even seen--don't you think he'll attend
to you, take pride in you, do his best for
you?
28. What I'm trying to do here is to get
you to relax, to not be so preoccupied
with getting, so you can respond to
God's giving. People who don't know
God and the way he works fuss over
these things, but you know both God
and how he works. Steep your life in
God-reality, God-initiative, God-
provisions. Don't worry about missing
out. You'll find all your everyday human
concerns will be met.
29. “Give your entire attention to what
God is doing right now, and don't get
worked up about what may or may not
happen tomorrow. God will help you
deal with whatever hard things come up
when the time comes.

35. He went up to him and
bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and
wine on them. Then he put him on his
own animal, brought him to an inn, and
took care of him.
36.
37.
38. "Do not let your hearts
be distressed. You believe in God;
believe also in me. There are many
dwelling places in my Father's house.
Otherwise, I would have told you,
because I am going away to make ready
a place for you. And if I go and make
ready a place for you, I will come again
and take you to be with me, so that
where I am you may be too.
39. And you know the way where I am
going."
"I am
the way, and the truth, and the life. No
one comes to the Father except through
me. If you have known me, you will
know my Father too. And from now on
you do know him and have seen him."
40. "Have I been with you for so long, and
you have not known me, Philip? The
person who has seen me has seen the
Father! How can you say, 'Show us the
Father'? Do you not believe that I am
in the Father, and the Father is in me?
The words that I say to you, I do not
speak on my own initiative, but the
Father residing in me performs his
miraculous deeds.
41. Believe me that I am in the Father,
and the Father is in me, but if you do
not believe me, believe because of the
miraculous deeds themselves. I tell
you the solemn truth, the person who
believes in me will perform the
miraculous deeds that I am doing, and
will perform greater deeds than these,
because I am going to the Father.
42. And I will do whatever you ask in my
name, so that the Father may be
glorified in the Son. If you ask me
anything in my name, I will do it. “If
you love me, you will obey my
commandments. Then I will ask the
Father, and he will give you another
Advocate to be with you forever —
the Spirit of truth, whom the world
cannot accept, because it does not see
him or know him.
43. But you know him, because he resides
with you and will be in you. “I will not
abandon you as orphans, I will come to
you. In a little while the world will not
see me any longer, but you will see me;
because I live, you will live too. You
will know at that time that I am in my
Father and you are in me and I am in
you.
44. "Peace I leave with you;
my peace I give to you; I do not give it
to you as the world does. Do not let
your hearts be distressed or lacking in
courage.
