2. Adobe Indesign
When actually creating the format of my piece, I
used the programme Adobe Premiere. This was to
ensure I achieved a professional looking layout to
represent how film magazines look in reality.
3. Masthead and Coverlines
I used many different tools on the programme to ensure a
conventional layout was achieved in creating my magazine front
cover. Along with other lines of text, the rectangle frame tool was
used to lock text into place to make sure it did not move when
rearranging other objects. Regarding both the masthead and
cover lines; I used two different colours using the default and
stroke tool to create a more aesthetically pleasing cover with
colours that contrast each other so each element would stand
out. I also used text tools to space out the letters on the
masthead and make them large to represent the conventional
size. Similarly, I used the same tools to lay out the coverlines so
they were smaller, but still big enough to catch ones attention.
4. Additional elements
With the additional elements, some of the previous tools I mentioned were used
again with new tools included. Regarding the barcode, I used the rectangle
frame tool to create the template which would allow the image to stay in the
same place all the time. I then went to file and place and selected my image and
then, using the rotate tool I locked it into place. To coincide with the previous
conventional element, I included the price just above it. To make sure it could be
seen easily over my image, I used the stroke/fill tool to create a thicker black line
around the text. Also, I used the text tools and colour tools again. To ensure all
the text pieces that were blue were the same shade, I used the eyedropper tool
to take on shade and apply it to all the pieces necessary. I edited the size of the
text at the bottom of the page to be smaller and make the full stops between
each one bigger to clearly separate the text and make the piece look better
overall.
5. Finally, with the flash I
included on my front
cover, I right clicked the
rectangle tool and selected
the oval tool to create the
template for the flash.
Then, using the stroke/fill
tool, I selected a bright
purple to fill the circle so
the flash stood out and
caught the audience’s eye
and would therefore be
conventional.
